Advantages: Loads of chocolate chips and perfect dough

Disadvantages: None

Chocolate Chip cookies are another type on junk food that I just can't seem to get enough of. I normally like to make my own but sometimes I don't have the time and therefore buy a packet of Maryland Double Chocolate Chip Cookies. I choose this brand because Maryland make the best cookies, it's a very well known fact and also because the idea of double chocolate sounds very, very nice to me.

Anyway I bought a 150g packet from Tesco for £0.78, this is a lot in comparison to the Tesco Value version which is just 40p for 200g! However sometimes quality is worth paying for and in this case I agree. These cookies came in a purple wrapper unlike the original ones which come in red. The purple is shiny and metallic so they really do stand out on the shelf. On the front of the wrapper the name Maryland is written in large yellow letters and there is a picture of two of the cookies, the whole packet just seems to leap out at you from the shelf! On the back of the packet are the nutritional values and the ingredients.

I know that some people don't like it when ingredients are included in reviews but I do it because it helps the people who have food allergies. Anyway these cookies are made from:

Wheat Flour, Chocolate Chips (18%) (Sugar, Cocoa Mass, Vegetable Oil, Cocoa Butter, Emulsifier (Soya Lecithin), Flavouring), Sugar, Vegetable Oil, Partially Inverted Sugar Syrup, Reduced Fat Cocoa Powder, Whey Powder, Raising Agents (Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate, Ammonium Hydrogen Carbonate), Salt, Flavourings

Unfortunately this means that they contain soya, gluten and milk plus they may contain traces of nuts. On the bright side though they are suitable for vegetarians. Each biscuit contains:

227 KJ
54 Calories
0.7g of Protein
7.3g of Carbohydrate
2.5g of Fat

That is an okay amount of calories compared to some of the chocolate biscuits I have reviewed lately but the fat and carbohydrates (mainly sugar) are very high so again try not to eat too many of these although they are very tempting.

These cookies are better than normal cookies because they are double chocolate this means that not only do they contain chocolate chips but the actual cookie dough is chocolate flavoured, what a bonus! They are round in shape and a nice size. They are dark brown all over and a nice bumpy texture with little bits of smooth dark chocolate chips sticking out here and there.

Once you open the packet you can immediately smell the chocolate which is very appetising. Upon biting into these cookies you immediately taste chocolate. The cookie dough is crumbly but not too crumbly and gives a nice crunch when you bite into it. It has a pleasant chocolate flavour which is just strong enough. The chocolate chips are smooth and melt in you mouth, they have a stronger chocolate flavour than the dough and there are plenty of them, scattered about in the cookies.

Overall I think that these are delicious and are my favourite type of shop bought cookie. The cookie dough has the perfect cocoa taste and there are loads of chocolate chips. I give them 10 out of 10, absolutely delicious!

Summary: Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm!!!!!
