Advantages: Nice light sweet, get loads in a bag

Disadvantages: Go soft if left open

Sometimes there's nothing to stir that feeling of nostalgia like the sweets you loved when you were very young. Rainbow Drops falls heavily (or perhaps, considering what they are, very lightly) into that category.

Perhaps Rainbow Drops should always have been considered more of a cereal that a food - made of mainly puffed maize and rice and sugar, they always seemed almost healthy compared to some of the other things I used to happily much on. They're brightly coloured (lots of colourings here) but not flavoured - the colours and for aesthetics alone. All you really taste is "sweet" and the lovely crunchy knobbly light texture.

One of the best things about Rainbow Drops was always that because of what they are, they weigh almost nothing. This means that while it costs 38p for at 80g bag, that bag is HUGE and can usually last two days (do not leave open too long however, as they can go soft).

Currently they're on offer at Tesco - 2 bags for 50p. I advise you to indulge your nostalgia and snatch a bag up!

Summary: Still a bargain for the amount you get

Loved these as a kid and was pleasantly surprised to see them make a come back.
