... water. The flavours are different from colour to colour and my favourite are the yellow type ones as they seem to have a citrus flavour to them. According to the packaging the flavours are; lime, raspberry, pineapple, apricot & blackcurrant. Each of the flavours are delicious and these is not one that I don't enjoy. These sweets are really nice and I'm glad that we tried them. Each 100g contains 340 calories & 45.2g sugars so these should be enjoyed in moderation. Six sweets are around 25g.   Overall I would sa...more

Premium Review Maynards Sports Mixture: Maynard's pretending again to be Lions without a roar (727 words)

After feeling hugely disappointed in the Maynard's wine gums I had quite recently I decided it was the sports mixtures turn to see if they could live up to Lions excellent version of the sweets that the rather attractive guy at the sweet stall in Barrow has. I feeling that flattery is the best policy now, and if I suck him, sorry up to him, enough he may decide to hand out the occasional freebie. Whilst Wine Gums are usually a little on the soft side the Maynard's version were too soft and seemed quite cheap in build to the real one, which was rather alarming considering the price. However Sports mixture are hard chewy sweets, that Lions have gotten to a tee so it really ...  Read the complete review

Maynards Sports Mixture are hard jelly sweets very like wine gums but moulded in the shape of sports equipment such as cricket bats and tennis rackets. Each sweet provides 15kcal's so definitely not something to overindulge in, however, I generally buy one bag of these and split it between the four eldest little HonestBobs as a treat whilst watching a film. The novelty sports shapes make these sweets a little different from your every day jellies and fruit gums. I find the gums quite hard to chew, definitely not something I would give a toddler, but they last a fair while and seem to satisfy the older kids. On special offer in Tesco at the moment for 64p ...  Read the complete review

Most weekends my fiancé and I like to have a little munch so when I saw a 180g bag of Maynards Sport Mixture for 99p I just had to snap these up.  Maynards Sport Mixture are fruit flavoured gums which come in different shapes and sizes. There are lots of shapes such as sports clothing, cricket bats and the like. The sweets are deliciously chewy and make my mouth water. The flavours are different from colour to colour and my favourite are the yellow type ones as they seem to have a citrus flavour to them. Premium Review Super Sports Mixture (171 words)

The Maynards Sports Mixture is a favourite of mine in the sweet category becasue when i was younger i found them better than all the other sweets becasue the sweets arte moulded into sports for example there is Tennis rackets and Cricket wickets and as a young children things like this entertain you. The sweet itself is a hard gum and takes some chewing so i don't reccomend it for babies and also for the older customers who have false teeth may struggle to chew on them. They are very nice and each colour has a diffrerent flavour. The main problem with the sweet like most sweets on the market is that in a 225g bag of them there is over 600 calories ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Maynards Sports Mixture: Notes on The New Sports Mixtures, With Notes For Liquorice L ... (263 words)

I have enjoyed Sports Mixtures since I was a child and they were exclusively produced by Lion's. Recently, it seems that the product has passed to Maynard's, who immediately and controversially removed the black liquorice flavoured gum and replaced it with a purple blackcurrant one. Sports mixtures have a unique taste and texture; they are hard and chewy, and (currently) come in raspberry, pineapple, apricot, blackcurrant and lime flavours. It's obvious that the blackcurrant is a 'new' flavour, as it does not fit in well with the others and is a little lacklustre, having a weak, chemical blackcurrant taste. In the current incarnation, (previously having ...  Read the complete review
