McCains usually come up trumps with their potato products in my book, and their lightly spiced potato wedges are no exception. They usually cost £1.69 for a 750g bag which I think is very reasonable, and they're even better value for money at the moment in Tesco as they're on offer for just £1 a bag.

You can cook these on the barbecue apparantly which I haven't tried yet but definetely will in the summer time. They boast that they're a 2008 official barbecue food (whatever that means!). I'm sure they are tasty cooked on the barbie though so I'll give that a go later on.

For now, I've had these oven cooked everytime and highly rate them like it. I know that fried pototoes tend to taste that little bit nicer, but you really can't tell much of a difference between these when cooked in the over, and wedges you buy fried in the chippy or kebab shop. I think that's a sign of really good seasoning as well as good quality potatoes.

These have a very nice, mild and light coating on them that is barely spicy, more a little bit sweet and tangy I think. The outer shell is nice and crisp when you bite down, but not overly thick. Inside, I find that nearly every wedge is fluffy, soft and mouthwateringly tasty. These really are the nicest potato wedges I've had in a long time and will be stocking up while they're on offer.
