Wedges - You won't need to wedge yourself through the door if you eat these instead of chips! (McCains Lightly Spiced Potato Wedges)

Advantages: Nice taste, not too overpowering, lots for your money, not too high in calories.

Disadvantages: Can be a little expensive when not on offer, I would like more spice for my money!

Potato Wedges are a great staple item to have in your freezer and are a slightly healthier replacement to oven chips and an even better replacement for normal fried chips!

The wedges are lightly spiced and seem to be fluffy inside which is just the perfect combination when put with the crispier outside. The spice is nothing too overpowering and is just lovely when dipped in to barbeque sauce.

These are easy to cook just pop them in the oven, I never pay much attention to the 20-25 minute guideline and normally cook them for around 30 minutes along with chicken or whatever I am cooking that evenings tea. I find that this helps to ensure that the larger wedges get cooked too. It also states on the packet that these can be barbequed and I bet this would make the flavour much more intense and I can imagine they'd be delicious from the barbeque!

I would definitely recommend these but be sure to cook them for a good few minutes extra than advised on the packet to make sure you don't bite in to a wedge that's not quite cooked as it can completely put you off them (as it would for me!).

There are 144 calories per 100g so providing you don't go overboard with these they can be a great addition to a main meal to help keep things healthier. You should get a good 5 or 6 reasonable sized portions out of this bag.

A 750g bag is currently on offer in Tesco for £1.00 as opposed to the usual price of £1.69.

I am rating these wedges 4/5, the flavouring could do with being a little stronger for my taste but then these are advertised as lightly spiced wedges and that's definitely true! I would probably have rated them 3/5 if they weren't currently on offer. Now is definitely the time to head to Tesco and stock up on these!

Summary: I would recommend these wedges as a great replacement for chips.
