We all enjoy chips at some time during the week so when I was in a hurry the other day I grabbed a 1.5kg bag of frozen ones from our local corner shop for £2.49. I've always been pleased with most of McCains products & thought these would be a 'safe' buy. They come in a choice of original or crinkled & I chose the original ones. The bag's as shown in the picture & is bright & cheerful, sturdy plastic, clearly marked & showing images of sunflowers, potatoes & a bowlful of cooked chips. There's a circle with a union jack & it states these are made from '100% British potatoes'. The nutritional values are also ... Read the complete review

When it comes to chips I think that only the best will do, and I tend to stick with McCain as I've never been disappointed with their yummy potato products. McCain Foods Ltd was first established in 1957 in Canada and is now the worlds largest producer of chips. During this time, they've expanded both their range of potato products and 'lite bites' (pizza slices etc), and have become extremely popular. Their knowledge and experience in their yummy pototo products has led them to become more nutritionally conscious too, so their chips now have those traffic light labels to let you know they've done their bit to reduce the 'bad' offenders like saturated fats. ... I don't eat chips very often, but when I do I always go for oven chips as I don't have a chip pan or deep fat fryer and oven chips are a healthier option anyway. I usually buy a lot of own-brand food, but when I was in Somerfield recently, I noticed that McCain Homefries were on special offer, so I decided to try them. ~About The Product~ Made by McCain, these are described as being extra chunky. They are made from 100% British Potatoes, and contain no artificial colours, flavourings or hydrogenated fats. ~Packaging~ The chips come in a dark blue plastic pack like the one pictured above. The pack contains 1kg of chips and has a ... Read the complete review

I do line the odd Chip, and although I probably prefer Chippy Chips, often it is annoying when they are a bag of Mush. It is lovely when you get a nice Crisp oven chip which is golden and crisp on the outside and Fluffy on the inside. These Chips are one of the best i've tasted so far. Found in the freezer section, I thnk you can get these in 2 different sizes, but we buy the large bag due to them working out cheaper than the smaller ones. They keep for ages being in the freezer as well. The large 1.5kg bag costs about £2.60 in my local Tesco and Asda. The pack looks alright. The bag is a plastic bag which is easy enough to open. Although I do try and be good with my diet most of the time and ultimately chip shop chips are pretty much as unhealthy as you can get, although they taste amazing. Therefore I have always been on the search for a decent oven chip that would satisfy the craving I have to indulge in chips without all the fat and grease. Up until discovering Homefries I had always been hugely dissappointed by oven chips, I had always found them to be bland, dry and tasting an awful lot like cardboard. I had resisting purchasing Homefries for a while as they did seem quite pricey compared to the supermarket own branded chips. I believe a 1kg bag comes in at around £2.05. ...
