Advantages: Tasty!
Disadvantages: Fattening!
Okay, so it's Thursday and I was feeling a little down earlier so I thought a little treat was in order, so I indulged a little.... okay then a lot. But when I was in Henry Healey's this lunch time buying my usual lunch, I just happened to be glancing over at the crisp stand and there they were, McCoy's Cheddar & Onion, "screaming" at me to buy them and who am I to refuse? You must have seen these KP branded snacks on your travels to shops, supermarkets etc., In their easily recognisable gold and green foil packaging, which helps to retain freshness which can I just say, they do rather well. It's probably not a good idea not to have too near your nose when opening, the smell has been known to put some people off, not me, I love the smell of cheese - the stronger the better is my motto. I can hardly wait before stuffing these into my mouth; the thick crinkle cut chips are loaded with lots of lovely cheesy artificial flavouring, it almost looks as if they are covered in a very strong cheese salt that just happens to be orange in colour, apparantley they have used paprika for colouring, which explains the colour! Bite into these good old fashioned strong chunky potato chips and you'll find them to be very crunchy and very fresh tasting indeed, I personally like to lick all the flavouring off the crisp before dissecting ridge by ridge and yes before you ask I usually drive everyone nuts but I like to savour my food, especially if the flavouring is good and strong like these McCoy's. Because they are so strong in flavouring, the aftertaste remains with you for some time and your breath will be pretty much guaranteed to stink the room out, some gum or mints may be a good idea to keep handy, oh and you will feel the need to wash your hands afterwards because of the gritty salty feeling left behind. Although apparently I've stunk the office out, but I've not put our Colette
off oh no, she's came back for a second helping, I'll probably get the blame of her falling of her diet wagon - aye right (as if), which given another few hours I am sure she would have managed that fine all by herself. And because they taste so good they are of course bad for you, one `little' 50g bag will cost you a whopping 258 calories and 15.3g of fat but today I don't really care too much, tomorrow I will but today I don't. Definately recommended for those who like their crisps to be very strong in flavouring, but beware they do contain Milk but on the plus side are gluten free and suitable for vegetarians. You can buy these bags individually at around 45p each or as part of a multipack with other varieties - Salt N Vinegar and Beef, a multipack of 6 will set you back around £1.29.
