Advantages: Tasty, Moist, Satisfying

Disadvantages: None

I recently bought this as part of a twin pack along with the McVitie's Lemon Cake for £1.79. So this basically cost me 90p which I think is an absolute bargain for such a brilliant piece of sponge. I would be happy if I'd paid anything up to £2 for just this cake alone. When you get quality like this, you don't mind paying that little bit extra.

My first impressions of this were excellent, as I unwrapped my cake to find a lovely, thick, moist slab of chocolate sponge cake. The outer layer of the cake sort of glistened really, which to me screamed "I am the moistest chocolate sponge you could have hoped to lay your eyes upon!" And indeed, the cake's words turned out to be very true.

Munching on a slice of this cake was both a taste experience and satisfying at the same time. Often when I wolf down a slice of cake like this, I'm left wanting more straight away. But this was not just nice tasting, but really filling and satisfying too. Although the sponge has a good, firm spring to it - it's by no means a light cake at all. A small slice of this will go a long way for most.

I liked the soft, moist texture of the sponge, and the rich but not overly sugary chocolate flavour too. I thought that the firm aftertaste was what really helped to make this so satisfying. It was a sweet but not sugary chocolate flavour while I was eating it, and a firm but light chocolate flavour in my mouth after I'd finished. I found that a slab this size was more than enough for a family of six to have a very tasty and satisfying sized slice apiece.

I know that they sell this in Tesco, but I'm afraid I can't find it on the website at present to give you the usual price and nutritional information. However to be honest, I don't think it really matters what the fat and sugar and calorie content is of this cake. I'd happily eat it again regardless!

Summary: Highly Recommended
