Advantages: Well the yumminess obviously
Disadvantages: Bit dry
HobNobs are a biscuit that is made out of rolled and jumbo oats and are produced by McVities who make a lot of the tasty things in life. You can also get these coated in milk chocolate, dark chocolate and chocolate orange (though I've never seen the chocolate orange one myself). You can also get HobNob style flapjacks. These plain ones come either in the standard packet or you can buy them in a plastic tube with lid but I think this just pushes the price up unnecessarily.
The packet is orange and dark blue or for the chocolate ones mid and dark blue. I would guess that you get about 20 biscuits in each pack. These biscuits don't give the same snap sound as you would get with a Rich Tea but they are harder than a Digestive Biscuit. So if you were to dunk them in tea I think they would stand up pretty well and not completely dissolve. Apparently they are known for keeping their shape intact when dunking but I don't really drink tea so can't say if this is true. I find the perfect drink to go with these is cold milk and often have the two simultaneously.
The biscuits are a lovely golden colour and feel quite rough in texture. I love the smell you get when you open the packet, it reminds me of being at the bakers. When you bite into the biscuit you can seel all the oaty bits inside. What I love about these is the taste. They really do taste oaty and natural. They can be a bit dry which is why I don't like having them on their own and their other disadvantage I find is that if you break them in half you get a lot of crumbs over the carpet.
The claim on the packet is that they have no artificial flavours and colours and that it is 60% oat and wholemeal goodness. They also mention they have cut out 50% of the saturated fat which is great news. One biscuit is 67 calories and 0.7g sat fat. A 300 gram pack costs about 75p. I really do love these biscuits, I know they're not as healthy as eating fruit but I don't feel bad eating them. What's more I find that they are quite filling as a biscuit.
Summary: One of my biscuit favourites
