Introduction
============
It was a Friday afternoon and I knew that I needed a chocolate fix. So on my way home from work I decided to call in the local shop to see what was on their shelves. After browsing over all the regular chocolate bars and none were taking my fancy and I was just about to leave when these little darlings caught my eye.
A golden pack was calling to me and I could see through part of the wrapper to see the chocolate-coated things inside. The packet said they were McVities Caramel Digestive Shortcakes; I like the McVities products so. I made my purchase and continued home.
The Taste
=========
Inside the pack are two slices waiting to be eaten. There is a very nice chocolate and caramel smell. I shall take a bite, the chocolate, caramel and biscuit is not hard and breaks with very little effort.
The chocolate and caramel is very smooth and creamy, the biscuit is firm but soft and crunchy at the same time. The whole things sits very nicely on my pallet it does have a very sweet taste.
The sweet taste remains on your pallet, which makes these very moreish, but I have a feeling that two is more than enough or they would become very slickly. They are quite filling as well and have sorted out my chocolate needs for today anyway.
Nutritional Information
========================
Now I made sure that I ate these before moving onto looking at this because I knew it might change my mind, chocolate, caramel and digestive equals bad in calories and fat.
There are 154 calories and 8.2g of fat (4.9g of which are saturates) per slice. Very scary to realise that I have just eaten over 300 calories and over 16g of fat in these two slices but the damage has already been done!
There is also a small warning that this product may contain traces of nut and does contain milk, soya and gluten. McVities also have a consumer care line just in case your have any questions or comments. That number is 0500 011710 for UK and 1800 409317 for the Republic of Ireland.
Overview
========
I bought these from my local corner shop and cost me 65p, would I buy them again, I think so, they were very nice and cured my need for chocolate at the time. I would probably buy them again when I need another chocolate fix.
The taste was not over powering but quite gentle really which is very tempting to just shove all of it into your mouth in one go rather than savouring the taste of each bite. These might be good for packed lunches or picnics because they are nicely sealed. They would be good to share with someone as well if you do not want all those calories inside you but I warn you after you have had your first one you might not want to give it up.
Thanks for reading.
Summary: Very yummy and nice good treat
