Advantages: chocolate and caramel! Need I say more?

Disadvantages: Expensive, very moreish

Can McVities do any wrong? Everyone knows how delicious their chocolate digestives are ... so their caramel version was bound to be a hit right? Well for me, yes it was! Far too moreish though, but then, aren't all McVities products! I could easily scoff the entire packet - so I do limit myself to two-three biscuits maximum at a time.

These caramel digestives are packaged in the same way as all Mcvities digestives - the digestives are stacked one on top of each other until there is a certain number of them stacked up (I don't have the number to hand - will edit the review when I do) and then wrapped up to keep them fresh. The wrapper is yellow with blue strips at the top and bottom. The McVities logo is at the top, and he word "Caramels" is written below this but in the centre of the wrapper. There is also a picture of the biscuit at the end of this word to tempt you.

The biscuits are made up of the delicious wholemeal digestive biscuit base. There is then a layer of chewy caramel on the top of this and a layer of milk chocolate on top of this. The caramel is chewier than i expected but very yummy. I expected the caramel to be like the consistency of that in a twix, but it is more like that of rolos - slightlier chewier. That said, I could still eat far too many if I let myself!

I was slightly worried that as these are so delicious and contain both chocolate and caramel that they would horrendously bad for me. I nervously looked at the nutritional values on the wrapper and was pleasantly surprised. Ok so they're not great, but nowhere near as bad as I anticipated. Each biscuit contains 81 calories (quite reasonable given the chocolate and caramel I think!) and 3.7g of fat. At £1.31 for a 300g pack they're not the cheapest biscuit available, but Sainsbury's currently sell a twin pack (600g) for £2.35 which saves you 27p - admittedly not a lot, but a saving's a saving right!! You'd probably find them on offer somewhere if you shopped around a bit.

The ingredients are as follows:
Wheat Flour, Caramel (24%) [Glucose Syrup, Sweetened Condensed Skimmed Milk, Vegetable Oil, Humectant (Glycerine), Salt, Emulsifier (E471), Flavourings], Milk Chocolate (17%) [Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Mass, Dried Skimmed Milk, Dried Whey, Butter Oil, Vegetable Fat, Emulsifiers (Soya Lecithin, E476), Natural Vanilla Flavouring], Vegetable Oil, Sugar, Wholemeal, Glucose-Fructose Syrup, Raising Agent (Sodium Bicarbonate, Tartaric Acid, Malic Acid, Ammonium Bicarbonate), Salt.

Summary: If twix and digestive had babies - this is what it would be!
