Advantages: everything so far
Disadvantages: calories, fat
I picked these up the other day at Tescos as they were on offer at half price and I had not tried them before! I was so glad that I did!
What is it?
They are yet another digestive biscuit by Mcvities with a thin layer of caramel wedged in between a thicker chocolate layer and he biscuit.
Packaging:
The packaging is that normal biscuit wrapper where you pull the tab to open them- about 3 buiscuits down. The packet is a yellowy mustard colour with a stip of cobalt blue reading caramels. It also has a picture of half a biscuit on it so you can see the 3 layers of biscuit, caramel and chocolate.
Price:
As they were half price in Tescos they cost me around 64p and the normal price is somewhere around £1.30 and I'd say you get about 17 or so biscuits.
Where can you purchase?
You can purchase in most supermarkets such as Tescos, Asda, Sainsburys, etc and also independent corner shops or some chain ones.
My view:
I really like these as a once in a while indulgent treat.
I love the added caramel, it is not a sickly sweet one and is one of the harder, chewier caramels compared to the sickly free running one. However when you dunk into a cup of tea it goes slightly smoother and the mixture of the chocolate and the caramel is simply gorgeous!
The biscuit itself is the same as all mcvities digestive, the right amount of crunch, without all crumbling in your hand and has the right amount of sweetness to it.
The caramel is quite a thinish layer, but this is all you need as any more it would be an over sickly treat. I like the texture of it as you can eat it without dunking, which I can not normally do as I find the biscuits too dry, but this adds a nice sort of moistness to it. When dunked though it as just as good as it makes the caramel very smooth and mixes well with the chocolate and biscuit!
The choclate is a thickish layer which just tops off this fab combo perfectly! It is milk chocolate which is very creamy and smooth. It melts lovely into the caramel in your mouth or if it is dunked the chocolate all melts and goes very smooth!
Overall the taste is just great! I will be buying these again but they won't be my usual biscuits, unfortunatley because of the calories and the nutritional values which are as followed:
81 kcal per biscuit
3.7g Fat per buiscuit
1.9g of which saturates per buicuit
So as you can see it is not the healthiest but is definitley worth ago and is well reccomended by me and these will be in my cupboard again!
Summary: Try them!
