Advantages: Just delicious

Disadvantages: calories but who cares

McVities chocolate caramel digestives are one of my favourites when I am able to obtain a packet that is. They do appear every so often on the shelves at ASDA but otherwise they are extremely hard to find, but are indeed worth the search.

When available they retail at around £1.00 per 300g which is not bad value considering there are a fair few of these little beauties in each packet. They do not look that much different than ordinary choc digestives being that they are just over 3.5 inches in diameter and probably in the region of .25 inches thick, and it is the thickness that is important here since this is where the caramel is hidden.

The sweet but not overly so digestive is both crunchy and tasty with a slight hint of saltiness, this saltiness however is faded into the background once the chocolate kicks in the chocolate is creamy and melts easily once the digestive process begins it's work. Once the chocolate starts to melt then the real sweetness hits you, The soft chewy caramel has the light brown appearance that one usually associates with such a divine product , but more importantly it tastes just superb.

Each of the components required to make these biscuits is in it's own right a great product, but it is the mingling and melting of all together that create that rather special taste one can only get from just a heavenly combination. I eat quite a few of these with a cup of coffee and to be honest would probably each the majority of the packet were I not prohibited from doing so by marital intervention.

Easily a pound or so well spent especially if you like a decent biscuit, however this is way beyond decent, it is indeed very high up on my list of favourites, pity they can be so hard to find.

Summary: A truly wonderful experience
