Advantages: Tasty snack

Disadvantages: High calorie and fat content, very messy

Let me just start by saying Mmmmmm Hob Nobs! These oaty, chocolatey marvels are so moreish you can't have just one

I currently have a reasealable 250g pack sitting on my desk at work for those snack attack moments.

Probably not a great idea as I haven't been to the gym for about 2 months and my clothes are beginning to feel ominously tight. But I figured that 1 or 2 hobnobs a day (maybe 3) can't be as bad as a chocolate bar. But as lately I had been on the Blue Ribands (99 calories per bar) as opposed to Cadbury's Twirl (230 calories per 2 stick bar), this turned out to be not as good an option as I had hoped, with each chocolate hob nob weighing in at 92 calories and 4.5g of fat.

Guess I should've stuck with the Twirl!

Right, that info was for those of you who are watching your waistlines. Don't read any further or you may not be able to resist the tempation to buy a pack immediately!

McVitie's Chocolate Hob Nobs resealable pack is a 20cm high blue tube with the distinctive McVitie's brand across the top and 'Hob Nobs' written in nobbly writing and a picture of 2 or 3 of the chocolate biccies.

The 250g pack contains about 15 biscuits, piled on top of one another.

The biscuit itself is about a cm thick, has an oaty base and a milk chocolate covering. The biscuit part probably makes up about 9/10ths of the biscuit with the rest the choc covering.

When you bite into it you get the lovely crunch of the biscuit and the chewy crunch of he oats. the taste is slightly salty so the sweetness of the chocolate balances this out nicely. I'm not sure what it is about these biscuits tha tmakes you want more, but I think it is a combination of the texture and the slight saltiness, well for me anyway.

These biscuits are very crumbly, so you may need to have a mini hoover to hand or you will be left with lots of crumbs over your desk and keyboard if eating at work, which is just a breeding ground for germs really.

They are also great for dunking in your tea as the biscuit doesn't fall apart immediately and leave that horrible gunk inthe bottom of your cup. The bisuit gets slightly softer and melts in the mouth.

The packet informs you that Hob Nobs are now lower in salt and have no artificial flavours or colours, which does make me wonder exactly how unhealthy they were before as they are not exactly a healthy snack now! They do provide details on Calories, protein, fat and sodium per biscuit and per 100g, as well as a daily guideline for the different calorie intakes recommended for men and women. Of course this will vary with every individual. They also provide details of a healthy lifestyle website to give you information on how excercise and a balanced diet can help you have a better lifestyle. Is this out of guilt for the unhealthiness of this snack?
Ah who cares! They taste nice and in moderation they won't make you gain massive amounts of weight, so as all the alcohol adverts say, enjoy responsibly!

Summary: Tasty nobbly oaty bisuit, ideal for your tea break!
