Advantages: Smell great, taste great and not too expensive.

Disadvantages: They are not good for you (what is)??

WOW what a hob-nobbily, phantasmagoricaly delicious biscuit these really are!!

To what do I refer? Why the chocolate hobnob of course!

I first tried hobnobs in their original form and even then they were certainly a biscuit I really enjoyed but add a bit of chocolate to anything and well it improves it (well with a few exceptions I guess, I mean I wouldn't melt chocolate on to my fish supper or have it with my lamb boona).

Mcvities certainly got things right when they decided to half cover their delicious hobnobs with chocolate; they turned a fairly enjoyable dunking biscuit into a real luxurious treat. For those of you who have perhaps not had the pleasure of tasting one of these biscuits, they are made from rolled oats, wholemeal and syrup amongst other things then they are topped with delicious chocolate.

Here`s the full ingredients for anyone interested...
Rolled Oats, Plain Chocolate, (Sugar, Cocoa Mass, Vegetable Fat, Butter Oil, Cocoa Butter, Emulsifiers, Natural Vanilla Flavouring, Wholemeal, Sugar, Vegetable Oil, Glucose-Fructose Syrup, Raising Agents (Sodium Bicarbonate, Ammonium Bicarbonate) and salt.

They are a very, very sweet treat and perhaps a little too sweet for some, you can certainly taste the sugar and the syrup even through the chocolate topping which is what makes them different to other chocolate biscuits in my view. Many others such as chocolate digestives and chocolate covered malted milks just taste of chocolate whereas the original hobnob taste shines through with these.

As with pretty much any other biscuit the sugar level and the calories in these make them bad for you if you eat too much of them so have them as an occasional treat rather than a regular snack.

A 250g pack will set you back around 80p and they are very well worth it at that. They are also available with plain chocolate toping but that sort of masks the hobnob taste for me so I feel the milk chocolate version is the one to buy. They are easily located in store just look for a light blue coloured pack with a picture of the delicious biscuit at one end and the title hobnobs in large silver writing. They also come in cardboard tubes with a plastic lid but you pay more for basically the same amount of biscuits so don't be conned.

Remember not to binge on these because at 92 calories per biscuit you will really pile on the pounds. Eat and enjoy sensibly!!

Thanks for reading!
