Advantages: Handy size
Disadvantages: A bit bland, High sugar and fat content
I spotted these for a reasonable price a while back so I decided to grab a pack of them and see what they were like compared to other cake bars I've tried in the past.
Packaging:
The cake bars are individually wrapped in a predominantly brownish wrapper which keeps them isolated from the air once the wrapper covering the main carton has been opened. The cake bars are laid in the carton which has part of the top missing & is wrapped with a plastic covering. Again this is predominantly brown, with the Galaxy logo written on an off-white background. The back of the pack lists the Customer Care details, the ingredients & the nutritional information. The product is described as:- "Delicious sponge cake bars with a smooth cream centre, covered in real Galaxy milk chocolate.

The cake bar:
The bar is completely covered in Galaxy chocolate. The first thing you notice when you open the wrapper is the smell of the chocolate. On biting into it you'll notice that about two thirds of the interior of the roll is chocolate sponge & the remaining third is the cream centre.
Taste:
The overriding taste is of the Galaxy chocolate. The cake layer tastes no different to cake layers in any other cake bar and the cream filling has a slight caramel taste to it. Overall it's a very sweet cake bar but, as I said, the overriding taste is of the Galaxy Chocolate
Price:
I paid the princely sum of 79p for these in my local corner shop.
Opinion:
A very handy size to pop into a lunchbox or if you need a chocolate hit. They're pleasant enough, but, as I said, the taste is predominantly of Galaxy chocolate so there isn't really the same sort of contrast between flavours that you might get with the Cadbury's Caramel Cake Bar or the Jaffa Cake Bar for example. If you like Galaxy Chocolate then you'll probably like these but overall I found them a little bland. You may just as well buy a bar of Galaxy Chocolate and be done with it
Once again, the sugar & fat content is quite high. One cake bar will provide an adult with 13.7% of their Recommended Daily Amount of sugar and 8.8% of their RDA for fat so these are perhaps best avoided by dieters or those watching their weight.
Summary: Galaxy Cake Bar
