... (not unlike the nutri grain bars, but they come in boxes of 8). The box is around 6 inches across and 7 inches tall (that's an estimate..), it's green with and orange swirl with the go ahead bar inside the swirl - there is a picture of an apple and the inside of an apple, and then a picture of half a bar of the fruit bake - it looked tasty. N.b - the box is different from the one pictured, as you can tell from my description. I opened the box and found that the bars cake in a browny - orange packet with a green s...more

Premium Review McVities Go Ahead Apple Fruit Bakes: Not Quite An Apple a Day but Go Ahead Anyway! (1074 words)

Whenever I see “Go Ahead” products from McVities, I always think of the dry “garibaldi” type crackers or delicious chocolate rice bars they sell against anything else the “Go Ahead” range may actually include. This is no fault of the maker but rather me, as I have only tried a few successful variants along the way and still return to the dry fruit slices whenever I see them in the shops. Recently though I was looking for something a little different since the last biscuit type thing I had was Sainsbury’s Fig Rolls and as delicious as they may well have been the advent of running to the toilet as an option after consumption was not considered ...  Read the complete review

I'm always snacking on chocolate and crisps and I am a lot worse since I got a job in an office. I have a statsh of crisps, biscuits and chocolate in my bottom drawer and I always seem to give in to a pain au chocolat nearly every day. I don't need to loose weight but I have always been slim and am always frightened of piling on a few extra stone! I wanted something healthier to snack on and something that would fill me up until lunch-time. The Go Ahead range in Tesco, Sainsbury's and Morrisons is quite large and its easy to find. ***ABOUT GO AHEAD*** Go Ahead are passionate about making great tasting snacks which are better for you ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review McVities Go Ahead Apple Fruit Bakes: Go Ahead - try one! (609 words)

Like many other people I'm sure, I seem to be constantly fighting a losing battle with my weight! It's probably got a lot to do with the fact that most of the things I really enjoy eating are a little on the fattening side and I don't seem to have the willpower to say 'no'! Therefore, I am always on the look out for the type of snack that I will enjoy but will not do nasty things to my waistline! The problem is that, in my opinion, most of the things that claim to be good for you don't actually taste as nice as all the things that don't make this claim! However, one of the brands that actually does seem to combine taste with healthy eating are the 'Go Ahead' ...  Read the complete review

Despite my attempts to shift a few extra pounds, my body simply will not function without at least one sweet treat per day. So whilst I'm attempting to curb my intake of chocolate, cakes and ice cream for a while, I needed a relatively healthy substitute. It was during a visit to Somerfield that I found myself stocking up on salads and vegetables and other healthy things when I inadvertently wandered down the chocolate and biscuit aisle. In an attempt to stay relatively faithful to my new diet, my eye soon settled on the Go Ahead range which offers a selection of low fat snacks and treats. A few items appealed to me but it was the yellow 50% reduction ...  Read the complete review

I've been getting peckish quite alot lately, and have slightly gone off of my usual dry snack - the apple nutri grain bar, so whilst in asda the other day, I saw these, Go Ahead Fruit Bakes, apple flavoured. I thought they might give me a bit of a change from the nutri grain bar, but not too much to make me crave one, so I popped them in my trolley and off I went. According to the box.... Golden baked bars with a delicious apple flavoured filling. If you're craving a treat, try a delicious Fruit Bake. These golden-baked treats are packed with a range of refreshing fruit flavoured fillings & encased in a delicious wheat biscuit and all under 125 ...  Read the complete review
