McVities Go Ahead Strawberry Yoghurt Breaks

Description: Manufacturer: Mc Vitie's / Type: Biscuits

Today I slept in and that meant no time for breakfast. I dragged straighteners through my hair, threw on mascara and ran for the Metro. I managed to make it to work in time, so headed straight for the vending machine to grab a breakfast substitute. I haven't tried these bars before so paid the shocking price of £0.65 for them.

You will recognise these by the bright green foil wrapping. They have a picture of the bar on the front. There are also pictures of strawberries on the front, which don't appear on the Dooyoo picture above - but they are definitely there! Inside the packaging there are 2 thin bars which are both topped with a yoghurt coating.

I was really disappointed with these. The yoghurt topping tasted really artificial and was a strange consistency. Because it was quite thick (I would hesitate to say creamy) it reminded me a little of yoghurt that had gone off. It had a slightly bitter aftertaste and also overpowered the rest of the bar.

There is hardly any of the promised strawberry (kind of a nondescript sweet fruity taste, could easily have been one of a few flavours), and the biscuit itself is quite dry. I think I had expected some kind of thick and chewy variety, so this was a let down. Having said that, the yoghurt was so overpowering that you couldn't really taste the rest of the bar.

The nutritional values are as follows;

Calories 74
Protein 1.0g
Carbs 13.3g
Fat 1.3g
Fibre 0.4g
Calcium 60mg (7.5% RDA)

Remember that there are 2 bars in each pack, and those details are only for 1.

I actually didn't finish this bar, it was so poor that I chucked it (and then ended up back at the vending machine within the hour, this time for a Tracker bar, not as healthy but SO much better!) so I am obviously not going to recommend it. Yes it is better for you than loads of similar things, and yes, it does taste sweet, but it certainly isn't a decent substitute for a treat!

2 stars and only because it is healthy!

Summary: Not worth the money in my opinion!
