Mc Vities is part of the united biscuits group. Mc Vities have been making biscuits for over 100 years, in about the year 2000 some individual cake snacks were introduced one The Mc Vities golden syrup cake bar.

One day a few weeks ago I was in Tesco and was perusing the cake section and I espied a pack of 5 Mc Vities golden syrup cake bars, I really fancied one but they only come in packs of 5 so a pack of 5 went in my basket they cost £1.09 so just under 22p per cake . Mac Vities also make a large golden syrup cake.
Mc vities golden syrup cakes are made with Tate and Lyle golden syrup cake.
The packet they are presented in is the Tate and Lyle golden syrup tin green and has the Tate and Lyle lion emblem in the centre, Each rectangular cake was in a waxed paper case, bit small I thought as I opened one and set about to eat it, I was tired and lacked sugar after my hectic day at work. They measured about 5cm long, 2 or 3 cm across and 4 cm high.

I did smell it and it smelt sweet and syrupy. It looked lovely bit small but lovely a golden brown, I took a bite and I bit through the sponge and my teeth sunk into a pocket of syrup filling in the centre of the cake mmmmmmmmmm all sticky and sweet, it was a very sweet cake but lovely delicious . It took me just 3 bites to demolish this delicious cake the cake texture was good not to crumbly it was a moist cake, although the syrup centre was sticky the cake was not and I did not get sticky fingers. Although it was small One was enough I think because it was sweet, but one was satisfying I did not crave another immediately.
the next day I reheated the remaining 4 in the oven with the supper I was cooking put them on a plate and hubby and I had 2 each as a dessert we had some custard with it , this made a scrummy pudding sweet and satisfying it was a bit like a treacle sponge pudding. They will make a great winter pudding but
Just as well I do not eat these everyday. You could just pop one of these in the microwave for 10 seconds to heat it

Calories lots of calories just as well they are small 136 cal per cake and 7.2 fats.
These cakes are not suitable for vegetarians or for people with nut allergies. These cakes also contain black treacle and golden syrup lots of sugar and eggs.
