... moreish. Unwrapping the biscuits from the wrapper and transferring to the biscuit tin you first notice how thick these actually are, the oats hold their consistency and only lose a few crumbs and the chocolate on top is robust and sweet. I am reminded of the Peter Kay observation whenever I look at Hobnobs and agree that these are "hard" biscuits which can withstand multiple dunks into your tea or coffee. In fact, for me, the only way to enjoy the full flavour of these biscuits is to dunk them. The oats...more

Premium Review McVities Hob Nobs Milk Chocolate: The sign of a better biscuit (270 words)

I try not to eat too many biscuits too often so this style of packaging gave me the perfect excuse to buy some lovely Hob Nobs when I was wondering around tesco! It is a 250 gram tub which has a resealable lid...blue plastic and then silver foil underneath to keep the freshness locked in. Hob Nobs are one of McVities best selling biscuits, and the flavour certainly explains why! They have a great oaty texture, which is described as "nobbly" on the packaging! The savoury flavour of the rough oats is complemented by the milk chocolate which covers one side. They are quite a crumbly biscuit but they are absolutely perfect for dunking into your tea or ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review A Classic Choccy Biscuit (371 words)

After being subjected to such awful biscuits this morning with my tea in the form of Tesco Value Chocolate Chip Cookies, I thought I'd better consider my options for future biscuit tin runs. One of my favourite biscuits ever made has to be the chocolate Hobnob from McVities. I think they get the taste just right with these. The oaty biscuit base is savoury and just a little salty while the chocolate topping gives them a little naughty sweet topping. I would have thought these biscuits wouldn't be too bad for you because oats give you lots of energy but having stopped to check the packet in my kitchen cupboard, I see that actually they're not a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review McVities Hob Nobs Milk Chocolate: Hobnobs are just the job! (534 words)

As it has been banging it down with rain here today I did the honourable and gentlemanly thing and told Mrs Rooster that I would go to Tesco so she could stay in and keep warm and dry. Prepped and armed with a shopping list I did what anyone would do in my position; I binned the list and selected everything that I wanted, not what we actually needed. Sniffing around the biscuit aisle I noticed that my favourite biscuits were on offer at half-price; Chocolate Hob Nobs and as these were not wanted or needed they of course went into my shopping basket. My packet came in a regular biscuit wrapper, not the tube as pictured above, and for those of you ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Have a Hob Nob! (496 words)

I won a competition from a windsurfing website (of all things!) recently, I had been after the first prize of a week in Hawaii but ended up winning one of the hundreds of runners up prizes of a t-shirt. When it arrived though there was also a tube of Hob Nobs in the envelope, a quirky and very unusual item to receive really but free biscuits cannot be sniffed at. I know Hob Nobs are loved by many and heralded as the perfect biscuit, but although I do like them they have never really appealed enough for me to eat them too regularly. I just fancied something nice with a cup of tea last night and remembered they were in the cupboard - and now I can't leave them ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review McVities Hob Nobs Milk Chocolate: Get your oats (410 words)

I like a biscuit to be one, which will stand the test of a good dunk without falling to pieces or half it ending up in the cup. There are fortunately enough quite a few which fall into the suitable category, but few that come fully up to scratch and can withstand a good solid dunk. One, which does pass this test, though is the humble Hobnob. I say humble in the nicest way since it is by no means the best biscuit in the world, but it's dunking qualities keep in high in my book. It is a good solid biscuit and very filling, and the addition of chocolate has greatly improved the original non-chocolate version, which in itself was still a decent ...  Read the complete review
