It was our work Christmas do on Friday night and a very good night was had by all, though the following morning was a bit grim when half the workforce are expected to be in, me amongst them. Struggled through and by 4 o'clock I was feeling a good bit better but all I wanted to do was get home, under the quilt on the sofa and I had a yearning for ... Read the complete review

Yummy scrummy gingery Jamaica Ginger Cake was one of my mothers store cupboard staples. She was convinced that failure to whip out a cake for an unexpected guest to go with their cuppa confirmed her status as woman who should have had it all but didn't. In an era where working mums were the thing of playground gossip and an au pair was a symbol of ... Read the complete review

Jamaica ginger cake is a fantastic product, it's a cake which tastes of ginger and is made by the giant in biscuit and cakes products mcvities. The cake itself is pretty big in size, its really thick and its also fairly long and in a bit of a tube shape, which means its great to cut a thin slice off and save the rest for ... I read a review of this last week and 'lo and behold' when I went into Sainsburys, it was on offer for just 54p. Now this isn't normally something I'd go for but I've been getting bored with the same old things lately so I went for it. I love ginger and considering this was Mcvities, I was expecting it to be good. The cake ... Read the complete review

I haven't had a Jamaica Ginger Cake in years as somehow I'd convinced myself that I don't like them. However, when my sister came for tea yesterday she brought one along with her so I decided to have a slice with my cuppa. This cake is a dark brown sponge when even before cutting looks much more dense than most cakes available at the ... Read the complete review

This has to be one of my favourite shop-bought cakes of all time. I came across one today, after not seeing one for around two years. After school in tesco's with my mum and brothers and trailing around the bread and bakery section this little beauty caught my eye. At first i looked straight past it, but then my eyes took a second look and after ... Read the complete review

Did you know this company has been around for over one hundred years? No wonder the Ginger cake tastes mature and strong. No really, good strong flavour of ginger I mean. I wanted to share a little recipe for turning this into a dessert worthy of the best dinner table. It's Ginger cake with Lemon sauce. You MUST use fresh lemons for ... Read the complete review

McVities Jamaica Ginger Cake costs £1.15 per cake in Tesco and at the moment it's available on buy one get one free. I have been a fan of McVities Jamaica Ginger Cake for many, many years and I am very sad to have to say that I will no longer buy them untill they look again at their recipe. Over the years the cake has become far TOO sticky. You can't even get it out of its wrapper now. Come on McVities do something about this problem,
