I found these in Sainsburies on the offer aisle for £1 for a pack of 9 last week. They are a new product from McVities who bring us Penguin biscuits and Penguin mini rolls (oh yes I hear you shout). I think they will be sold for around £1.39 full price for 9 quite small 2.5 inch x just under an inch bars.

They are "Penguin triple chocolate wafer bars with added calcium" (from the front of the label) or to give it another description (also from the label) "Milk chocolate covered Chocolate Flavoured Wafer Bar filled with Chocolate Cream".

They have more of a chocolatey taste than value range Chocolate Wafers and other wafer brands such as the Blue Riband wafer biscuits. This makes them unboubtedly a McVities Penguin product. In true Penguin bar style, you also get a joke on the wrapper. But they don't appear to have anything on the wrappers to promote the WWF and McVities Penguin collaboration or the Penguin supporters pack (you need a wrapper plus £5.99 to get a Penguin pack to support penguins in the antarctic- see McVities website) which is disappointing.

I would recommend this product (keep it in the fridge for maximum taste- although this is always controversial... try it before you discount it) and I hope it isn't a limited edition new product trial as lots of things which suddenly appear quite unannounced on the market are.

Summary: New product is worth a try if you can find it on offer as it is new
