Advantages: Taste Good
Disadvantages: N/A
Being a serial dunker, biscuits don't last long in my vicinity when there's a cup of tea around. I'm generally not very picky about which biscuits get dunked either - as long as they're not Mini Cheddars... yes, some people do actually dip those into tea, yuck!
As I mentioned in my review for Tesco's own Rich Tea, the biscuits were apparently developed in 17th century in Yorkshire for the upper-classes as a light snack between full-course meals.
The Rich Tea is circular, fairly thin and usually has some text engraved in the centre - in the case of the McVitie's variety, it's unsurprisingly "McVitie's Rich Tea Biscuit".
Costing 71p for the 300g packet from all the major supermarkets, the product is only around 20p more than the 250g Tesco brand.

In terms of the ingredients, the biscuits contain Wheat Flour, Sugar, Vegetable Oil, Glucose-fructose Syrup, Malt Extract, Cultured Skimmed Milk, Raising Agents (sodium Bicarbonate, Ammonium Bicarbonate), and Salt.
Eating each biscuit will add 38 Calories to your daily intake, which is actually two more than Tesco Rich Tea's. That said, McVities Rich Tea don't contain any of the harmful hydrogenated vegetable oil.
The biscuits have a subtle flavour and are nice and crunchy. They aren't too sweet, and in comparison to the Tesco variety, the taste of bicarbonate seems to be less obvious - but there isn't a massive difference in flavour .
I realise that Rich Tea's aren't the most exciting biscuits in the world, but they do complement a cup of tea very nicely. They are very moorish and one will inadvertently lead to another. McVities have done a good job in creating a tasty Rich Tea - recommended.
