Advantages: Delicious smooth milk chocolate, crunchy sweet pieces of caramel
Disadvantages: Only available in Tesco as far as I'm aware, terribly high in fat
Browsing in Tesco a couple of weeks ago I spotted a Milka bar that I was yet to try, I adore Milka chocolate and enjoy a Daim (Dime!) bar now and again so it sounded like the perfect combination to me.
I have only seen them in the 100g blocks, but that is true of the majority of Milka bars so you'll just have to control yourself and show a little willpower!
For some strange reason I had been expecting a solid piece of Daim (Dime!) caramel but instead it's small chunks which are dotted inside the chocolate itself. I enjoyed this but found the small pieces of Daim (Dime!) were a little hard and I felt my teeth jarring when I tried to bite through them.
The chocolate is delicious milk chocolate, extremely smooth with a fairly rich flavour which always leads me to question why Milka is not a more popular bar as the chocolate is at least as good as Cadbury's and perhaps better because it's not so cloyingly sweet. I personally think this delightful chocolate goes extremely well with the Daim (Dime!) pieces as the sweetness of the crunchy caramel is a delicious contrast to the smooth chocolate.
I really like this chocolate bar and if it weren't for the fact that I'm such a greedy guts then I'd certainly buy it more often, although as it is I honestly don't dare buy Milka Daim (Dime!) too often as I just know I'll eat the entire bar and that is not good for my diet at all!
Speaking of diets, this 100g bar contains 530 calories and an amazingly high 30g of fat. I was expecting the calorie content to be around this but find the fat content absolutely astounding, especially considering this is not a greasy bar in the slightest and despite the sugary caramel it's not overly sweet in my opinion either.
As with all Milka bars, this one is not widely available. In fact the only place I've seen it for sale is Tesco and it certainly wasn't available in Sainsbury's when I popped in today - I know because I fancied another bar and scoured the shelves for one!
The most impressive thing about it is that this 100g bar of excellent chocolate costs just 95p, which is a bargain compared to similar sized Green & Blacks chocolate which costs almost £2 at the moment.
Summary: I could eat this every day, although with a fat content like that I don't dare!

- 02/10/09 Mmmmm... Milka. Discovered it in France about 15 years ago and have loved it ever since. Might have to try this one. |
