... covering, while the originals were in paper. It's something I miss (like when they changed KitKats) because I do think chocolate tastes better from a paper wrapper, but I wasn't going to let that put me off trying this. Milka bars are thin compared to the likes of Dairy Milk or Galaxy but the pieces are slightly wider, which explains why a 100g bar of this compared to a 100g bar of one of those appears, well, thinner but wider. The bar comes perforated into pieces (5 rows of 3 pieces each, which doesn't help with the...more

Imagine a comfortable, chunky knit jumper compared to an exquisite, fine cashmere sweater. Both have their place in your wardrobe, but for different occasions. It may be a peculiar metaphor for chocolate, but I think it's an apt one. If the first one's a Cadbury's Caramel, then the second is this Milka Caramel. Milka is a cheap staple of the European chocolate scene, but was a late entry into the UK market, and when it did come it came at a price premium. For some years the original Alpine Milk version has been available, but it's only fairly recently that lots of the different flavours have become readily available in many supermarkets - before it went ...  Read the complete review

I do love chocolate and it's a bit of a downfall with me! However I spotted this and hadn't tried any offerings from this brand before and when I saw it on offer in my local Sainsbury's for 47p a bar (lots of varieties were available and the usual price is around 99p a bar) it's fate was seriously sealed! The Packaging: Light purple plastic oblong shaped packet with an orange swirl and a photograph of a cow on there, the chocolate and then a couple of lumps of the chocolate with a splodge of caramel sat beside it and I'm told in white writing that this is Milka Alpine Milk Chocolate 'caramel' and that it contains 136 Kcal per 25g's worth. On the ...  Read the complete review

While I sampled the Milka Cream my daughter bought me she sat and munched her own bar of chocolate, also from the Milka range. We swapped a couple of chunks and thought her Milka Caramel was absolutely delicious and again well worth the 95p she told me she paid for it, quality wise at least equalling chocolate brands costing double this. The chunks consist of a thickish piece of milk chocolate which is sitting atop a layer of a type of thick mousse filling, this may sound good enough but when you bite into a piece of chocolate you'll release a small flow of liquid caramel. I'm not sure mousse is quite the right word for the base of this chocolate as it has ...  Read the complete review

Milka Kraft produced chocolate has always had a unique appeal for me. I tend to associate it with old-fashioned chocolate making. Milka's nostalgic cow logo (a prancing cow with a bell around it's neck standing in a verdant field near some snow-capped mountains) makes me think of 'Heidi' or 'The Sound of Music' and seems to represent the standard of conditions in which the animals from which the Milka brand get their cream and milk are maintained. Whether of not this is the case, the brand manage to pass off a dream notion of Europe that I find very appealing. The term "Alpine Milk Chocolate" suggests this is a specially produced product, a nugget of gold ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Milka with Caramel Filling: Milka Caramel (444 words)

Move aside Cadbury's. Nestle doesn't even get a look in. Here's another chocolate 'superpower' (yes, such a power exists in the chocolate world)... it's Milka. More specifically their great tasting Caramel version. For those unaware of Milka, as it is nowhere near as widely available in the UK as it is in most parts of Europe, is Kraft Foods' best-selling brand of milk chocolate and has a well-known brand symbol, the "Milka Cow". The packaging for the chocolate comes in a lilac colour as well. Having just been on holiday in Turkey, I was amazed with the sheer number of Milka bars there are out there. Not just content with milk and white ...  Read the complete review
