I've been buying the sour cream and chive version of these for a few weeks now so thought I would give the Lightly Salted version a try. Basically these are like a cheaper version of Pringles and can only be found in Tesco. They cost just 99p for a 170g tube which is around half the price of Pringles.

As you can see from the picture, they come in a predominantly red and black tube with a large picture of the product and a large label telling us they are Stack Chips, there is also lettering in red telling us they are lightly salted and there is a Tesco Discount Brands logo to the upper left hand corner. The tube is made predominantly with cardboard, with a plastic lid and metal base. The plastic lid makes them resealable meaning they dont all have to be eaten at once and will instead keep nice and crisp.

Opening the tube the chips were stacked neatly up in a very tall pile. I noticed they were a bit smaller than pringles and had a slightly different shape. Each chip also looked quite pale. Biting into the chips I noticed they were very crunchy and crisp and were also of high quality, they shattered in the mouth providing a good texture. The flavouring I can only describe in one word - salty! These were very salty and to me, this was not a problem as I like salt but I can imagine it would be a slight issue to others. They did dry my mouth out quite quickly so I needed a drink alongside them. I much prefer the taste of the Sour Cream and Chive version and will probably buy those over these in future.

Each 25g portion provides you with 134 calories, 0.2g sugar, 8.3g fat (3.8g saturates) and 0.43g salt. Similarly to Pringles, these are quite high in fat compared to other crisps however they are of a completely different texture. Most households dont have crisps like this on a weekly basis so I think they are fine for a treat once in a while.

I did like these crisps but imagine some will find them far too salty. They are of good quality and are a bargain price however I would recommend the sour cream and chive ones over these.
