The food is interesting to say the least. (Mongolian Dishes)

Advantages: Different. Disadvantages: Not that great. Mongolian food is as eclectic as the people, however as Western companies move in, its popularity is certainly dwindling. At least once a day I was given a bowl of beef, which was essentially 10% beef and 90% fat. The thought made me sick. I had to, without fail, after every meal wait until the very end. Until EVERYONE had become bored with me eating and left the table so I was able to shove as much of the beef in my pocket and run to the toilet ramming it down the toilet. In reality it probably wasn't a nice thing to do, but in a slightly more sensible reality if I had tried to eat the food I would have regurgitated it all over the table. It wasn't the best, but that was merely one aspect of it. The Mongol favourite, and essentially their equivalent of a hamburger is what they call 'Buds' and these are dumplings with meat in the middle (sometimes vegetables), these, I must say - are pretty good! Summary: Ultimately decent food, but hardly competing against the Italians, just yet. |
