Morrisons have an excellent cake counter in their stores and I do try to avoid it like the plague as the shelves are filled with temptation however last weekend we had friends staying over and when I saw a special offer of five of their raspberry donust on offer for £1 I thought they would make a great accompainment to afternoon coffee.

The thing that I really like about the donuts from Morrisons and the thing that makes them stand out from the other supermarket donuts is that they use icing sugar as a coating on the outside rather than granulated sugar.

The donuts themselves are nice and round and plump, they hava lovely golden brown colour on the outside and inside the dough is nice and fliffy, the outer brown skin has a dusting of icing sugar on it and has a sliughtly chewy feel, inside amongst the dough there is a generous squirt of rich raspberry jam which has a nice fruity taste and is very smooth and not at all artificial in taste either.

I do find these quite filling and one is more than enough as a midday snack although the boyfriend scoffed two down in quich succession. At five for a pound these wre a tasty bargain even if they have a load of calories.
