Advantages: Delicious, well seasoned, the sausagemeat isn't gristly

Disadvantages: ----------

My granddaughter's all love fresh sausage rolls and their favourites are these from Morrisons which are cooked in the bakery at the back of the store.

You get four large sized sausage rolls in a bag and they are very tasty indeed, far better in fact than the bland and flavourless ones in Tesco which I have stopped buying because they weren't being eaten.

The sausagement is pink and tasty, a little spicy with a delicious peppery flavour that is wonderful on a chilly Autumn evening. It's not sloppy as some fresh baked sausage rolls are but the meat is very soft and almost melts in my mouth as I chew.

The pastry is delicious; ordinarily I hate soggy pastry so don't tend to buy sausage rolls for myself very often but there's something about these fresh ones from Morrisons that makes the very soft pastry extremely flavoursome. It's beautifully seasoned, a little greasy as all good sausage roll pastry should be and has a wonderfully rich pastry flavour.

The combination of sausagement and pastry is excellent in my opinion, and believe me it must be good for me to say that as I am certainly not a sausage roll type of person! I am particularly impressed with the lack of gristle in the sausagement and I find it very soft and as high quality as sausagemeat possibly could be.

The meat is nicely seasoned and has a lovely herby pork flavour which is at least as good as the sausage rolls you can buy in Greggs and other such bakeries, and actually far better than other supermarket fresh baked sausage rolls.

If you time your visit to Morrisons just right these sausage rolls may still be warm and then I have to physically stop myself from tucking in as soon as I get into the car. When perfectly fresh the pastry is delightfully flakey and you'll find yourself getting into a real mess with it! If you wait until they are cold then they do microwave very well, obviously using this method of reheating means you will lose the flakiness of the pastry but the flavours come through nicely and the pastry itself becomes rich and buttery tasting.

I'm not 100% sure how much they cost but think the packet of four large sausage rolls is around £1.79, and I think they are worth every penny as they are full of flavour and seem to be of a far higher quality than other sausage rolls in the same price bracket. Also look out for them just before the store is due to close as they are often greatly reduced and even thought they cannot be frozen they will keep at least until the next day, my best bargain was when I found a bag reduced to just 49p.

Summary: A delicious sausage roll freshly baked in store at Morrisons
