Morrisons Value Slice Carrots in Water

I always use tinned carrots when I do cheese and potato pie because I think the softness and sweet flavour of them is better than fresh carrots. Most of the cheapo supermarket tinned carrots are fine and there's no need to pay more than about 24p a tin for them. I didn't think anything of it when I brought a tin of Morrisons Value carrots but when I started cooking with them they were naff and nearly spoiled the cheese and potato pie. I always keep a few different tins of canned vegetables in the cupboard for a 'lazy' meal or for when I need to prepare soemthing out of nothing. I rarrely use tinned carrots as I much prefer fresh / fresher vegetables to accompany my meals. However, this evening - despite having been grocery shopping and buying fresh veg - I felt the urge to chuck a tin of Morrisons Value Sliced Carrots on the the hob in a saucepan. A 300g tin holds 180g of carrots (drained weight) and half a can (a recommended serving) contains 13 calories. A can costs 18p. Despite the fact that I will happily try items from the Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's no-frills ranges, there's always been something stopping me venturing into the realms of 'Morrisons Value' - and it's not just the fact that the packaging on this range is particularly vile as I do try not to be led by such things.
