The shop by me sells Mr Brains faggots for £1.00 for the pack of 4 and that's a major bargain, I don't know why he sells them so cheap buy that's his usual price for them and it has been for over a year! My mum buys some every week because even though they take ages to cook you can just bung them in the oven and forget about them so it makes them ... Read the complete review

**** Introduction **** I always remember as a child my mother trying to force feed us kids fagots, as a child I hated them and cant really remember trying them, I think is was the name to put me off. While in Tesco last week I found these on offer for £1.29 and my partner said that he loved them, so I thought if they are good ... Read the complete review

~~*~~*~~ Mr. Brain's Faggots ~~*~~*~~ How is it possible that something that sounds so revolting could be one of my favourite din-dins? HimIndoors won't even contemplate eating them even though he's commented on how nice they look and smell - I can only put it down to the fact that he doesn't like the word 'faggots', and who in their ... As we are having faggots for dinner I thought that I would do a dooyoo on them. I must admit that I think of faggots as one of those old fashioned meals if there is such a thing. The ones I buy are Mr. Brains. They were first made by Herbert Hill Brain who was a butcher from Bristol and they are apparently made ... Read the complete review

The faggot has been around since the Middle Ages where they were originally called savoury ducks; the same faggot itself comes from the Latin word for bundle. I remember with fondness from my childhood eating faggots and the brand has been around since at least the 1925, when I was a child it was a dish everyone ate. Although it ... I have no idea why but faggots always remind me of Haggis, more than likely because they are very much an acquired taste. If you don't like the taste of liver then you wouldn't touch a faggot with a bargepole. Faggots have always been known as a traditional Middle England dish and are traditionally eaten with peas. You will often see ... Read the complete review

Well you will all be very please to hear that someone has been listening to us!! Nearly every review I have read for Mr Brain's pork Faggots has suggested a lack of gravy, which I would totally agree with in the past. However, no more! I fancied faggots for tea so popped to Tesco to buy some and picked up a four pack of faggots the box stated ... Read the complete review

I was so cold today whilst out shopping today & really fancied something comforting, tasty, warming & filling to eat but couldn't decide what to buy. I'd picked up Iceland's free magazine with lots of coupons & decided to have a flick through it whilst in a long queue at Qualitysave. There was a 50p voucher off Mr Brain's 6 ... Faggots are meat balls made from pig heart, liver and bacon so they do contain a lot of offal, not a good meal for Gout sufferers I'm afraid, but I do love them myself. I have always known faggots as Savoury Ducks because my mother used to buy them from Carlisle market every Saturday morning for our tea that day. She used to ... Read the complete review

Yes they are still around and the taste is still the same! It just that sometimes the supermarkets hide them in the far corner of their freezer. These are pork faggots made of pork meat, livers and onions and has a slight pepper flavour. They are in a West country sauce. The sauce is thick and tastes of real traditional gravy made ... These faggots are delicious! They were dark and big, just how a nice faggot should be. When I was done making it, the big dark faggot was just dripping with scrumptious faggot gravy. They're so good I didn't even bother chewing! I just swallowed those meaty delights whole as the oils from the faggot lubricated my mouth for easy insertion. Bon Appetite!

At a time when every celebrity chef and his dog is extolling the virtues of offal, I thought it was time that the humble faggot had another airing. There is none humbler than Mr. Brains Faggots as found in the freezer chests in most supermarkets. None more eaten, in my part of the world, either. My part of the world is not the South ... As a child I was always bemused by my Granddad's choice of food, and the name "faggots" served to amuse on more than one occasion, however since I tried the succulent meatballs, and tasted the thick country sauce I've been hooked. *What are Faggots?* Faggots are meatballs, and in Mr Brain’s case are mainly ... I've not eaten Mr Brain's Faggots for ages (just never think to buy them!) and scoffed 2 with chips and peas last night. They were delicious. What a clever chap Mr Brain's is - who would have thought something as revolting as pork liver could be made into something so thoroughly lovely. Nothing too surprising in the bumph on the back ... Firstly, don’t let the word Faggots put you off! The 'unfortunate' name is derived from the original welsh word ffagodau which means a mixture or combination. Faggots were always popular back in Welsh history, the miners might keep a pig and the faggots were an easily carried lunch when they needed nourishment for their strenuous work ...
