About two weeks ago, my family sat down to a nice dessert of Asda's Bramley Apple pie...it smelled delicious! Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling very well at the time so I missed out on this treat. I was gutted - I love apple pie, and it was on such a rare occasion that we would buy it! After that totally unfair event, I craved the tempting taste of apple pie! This craving would simply not go away, so there was only one thing for it: buy more pie! It was going to be almost an entire week before we went on our weekly shop to Asda, so the nearest place I could venture to was the local Co-op store! I'm not sure whether they stock family-sized apple pies, but before ... Read the complete review

I've tried various Kipling's offerings in the past (who hasn't?) and have always found his cakes and pies overly sweet. Mr Kipling Bramley Apple Pies lived up to my expectations - they are very sweet although for many this might be a bonus. I tend to eat the pies straight from the box, although you could heat them up and add custard or cream I suppose. There are six pies to be found in each expertly illustrated box. Each one about 2 inches wide and about an inch thick when measured from the outside. This however is misleading, as the contents of each pie generally only fill half the interior hollow. This is a common trick of many pie making companies, ... Read the complete review

Mother Lools is back from her holiday and that means only one thing, her cupboards will be restocked full of Mr Kipling products. As she rang me everyday (from the Maldives) asking if I was eating enough, it was expecting that as soon as she returned to the UK she would still be force feeding me cakes every time that I decided to pop around to her house for a cup of tea. I was not disappointed, on my first visit to see her after she returned home, she brought out a box of Mr Kipling Bramley Apple Pies... how could I refuse as these are my favourites! ***Packaging*** Mr Kipling apple pies come in a bright green rectangular cardboard flat box. Mr Kipling bakes exceedingly good cakes...Yes I can agree with that statement. His Bramley apple pies are good, attractive little pies, if you can describe fruit pies in that way! So lets start from the very beginning...each pie would make an ideal teatime treat or an individual dessert served with ice cream or custard. The buttery shortcake pastry is light and crumbly. Each pie has a little apple cut out on top (nice finishing touch ) and the pie crust is liberally sprinkled with sugar. Now for the filling...a generously filled pie, when you take your first bite the apple oozes out and if you haven't got a Kleenex to hand your chin can ... Read the complete review

Generally speaking I do not like apple pies. I am more of an apple crumble kind of a girl myself. However, I will indulge on the odd occasion. My main problem is that I am not keen on pastry. I will tolerate it providing what goes with it is worth it! I have to say that despite my dislike of pastry, I love Mr Kipling Bramley Apple Pies. The pastry is not too thick, just thick enough. It is quite sweet but not too much. In fact, there is a dusting of sugar and yet this still does not make it too sweet. It can bit a little messy and crumbly but the taste outweighs to inconvenience. Each pie sits in its own foil case which means they are easy ... Read the complete review
