Advantages: Nice, spongey cake
Disadvantages: A bit bland really!
I like a bit of coffee cake as much as the next girl, but I couldn't eat it all the time. Likewise, these cappucino slices are nice for a quick treat but definitely not on my 'buy every week' list.
As with all other Mr Kiplings slice cakes, these come packed in pairs (6 to a box) and have the classic white icing and striped - in this case brown - diagonal lines over the top. The icing is nice but doesn't really have any flavour and is a bit too sticky; though that may have just been the batch I bought. The icing was stuck to the top of the cellophane and a large amount of it was left behind which was disappointing but a known hazard with Kiplings Slices!
The cake itself was nice, moist and not overpowering in it's cappucino/coffee flavour. The main bug bear I had was that it wasn't really anything special and I only managed to eat one out of the two, which is quite rare! I ended up giving the second one to our resident rubbish bin, my Dad. He concurred that whilst the slices were nice, and it makes a nice change from the normal we buy of lemon and angel slices, they weren't really worth going back again for.
The cappucino contingent of Mr Kiplings slices were overall ok, no real faults with them apart from the icing being a bit bland. But there was nothing really "Wow!" or "Mmm, this is good" about them either, so I'm a little disappointed. I'll keep making my own coffee sponges to get my coffee fix in cake form in future I think.
Summary: Overall nice to eat but nothing special.
