... light and airy with a lovely vanilla aftertaste. Although the top and bottom sponges are different colours (one being normal sponge colour and the other having a deep brown colouring much like chocolate cake) they have an identical flavour, which isn't the promised toffee or caramel but an extremely sweet and sugary vanilla sensation that made my teeth ache due to the sweetness of the sponge itself. While out and about recently I spotted a box of Mr Kipling cakes that I hadn't noticed before, Caramel Cake Bites, which are small individually wrapped cakes that have a caramel flavour running through them. I bought a box instantly as I adore most caramel flavoured foods, unfortunately I feel let down by these as they are bland and uninspired - completely unlike most other Mr Kipling offerings. A Caramel Cake Bite is basically a toffee flavoured sponge cake which has been split across the middle and spread with a thick and gooey caramel sauce.
