I am a fan of cherries so when I saw the Special Edition Cherry Slices that Mr Kipling has brought out I immediately bought a box to sample. I immediately like the fact that they are packaged in two's as it meant I didn't have to rush to eat six cakes before they went stale, I was a little annoyed that I couldn't see a single cherry on top of any of the cakes but reasoned that the fruit would be further into the sponge. Biting into one of the slices I thought the cake tasted a little too much like batter rather than sponge, it's stodgier than I'd have thought considering how delicate cherries are. Purely for review purposes I felt it was my duty to test out Mr Kipling Cherry Slices. It was a hardship, but someone had to do it. ~The Product~ The slices are almond flavoured sponge cakes, with unsurprisingly cherries, and a layer of plum jam at the bottom. There are six slices in a box, the slices are packaged in packs of two. Each pair is presented in a plastic tray and wrapped in plastic to preserve the freshness. Each slice is worth 145 calories, that's a shocking 483 per 100g. For those with allergies they may contain nuts and they definitely contain gluten, egg, milk and soya.
