Mr Kipling Country Slices....

All Mr Kipling slices are on offer at the moment in Morrison's for £1 per box. This is a saving of around 30 pence per box so is an okay saving. I decided on getting the country slices as I had not had them for a good few years and remembered that I used to really like them.

There are six Country Slices per box and they are wrapped up in little plastic boxes with two slices in per for extra freshness. I don't think this is a particularly great idea as it creates so much waste after the country slices have been eaten and also sometimes you just want to eat one slice!

The Country Slices boast that they contain no artificial colours or flavours but may contain traces of nuts therefore not suitable for those suffering from nut allergy. They are however suitable for vegetarians and there is no hydrogenated fat contained inside them.

The slices themselves are a nice size at about 6-7cm in length and around 2cm in width. To look at you can see the chunky pieces of sugar that decorate the top of the slice and also all the sultanas and currents that are contained within the slice. TI really does look jam packed with fruit and looks exceedingly good.

The taste of the Country Slice is one I really like. It is like a sweet fruit cake as the large sugar pieces on top of the slice make it that much more sweeter than a standard fruit cake. It is very moist and fresh tasting but literally crumbles within the mouth. A slice doesn't take very long to eat but does fill a nice gap if eaten with a hot cup of tea.

The slices are a true joy to eat and something I would see as a treat because of them being not too good on the old calorie and fat side of things. It always makes me laugh that they wrap them in two slice boxes but then only give the nutritional information on the front of the box per slice! Trying to trick you I find. So per slice you are looking at consuming 123 calories and 4.9g of fat and 1.7g saturated. This isn't too bad if you can just stick to having one!

All in all these Country Slices from Mr Kipling are certainly well worth the the £1 that I paid for them and do make a nice change instead of low fat biscuits. They taste nice and are at a reasonable price. Te only down side is the fact that they have wrapped them up in two slice boxes. Other than that I can find nothing to complain about. 4 stars and a high recommendation.

I do hope this has been of some help/interest to you.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

Summary: a nice change for 11ses

There are too many sultanas in these for me, my daughter loves them though.
