French fancies are the small square cakes that have a little bump on top filled with cream, and come in three different colours. These are chocolate brown, yellow and pink. Now the fiendish versions of the cakes are the Halloween special. These little critters are orange in colour and come in an orange box too. Fiendish yuminess! This almost jumped into my trolley at the supermarket, French Fancies are a weakness of mine but knowing I had a valid reason to buy them (it's Halloween!) made them about the more enjoyable. Soft, moist sponge with the expected indulgent blob of fondant then covered in a surprisingly appetising orange icing with black detail. They went down very well with my 3 year old and his Nana alike! I just wish they were bigger as 2 bites and they're gone! It seems greedy eating more than a couple but I could easily devour the box of 8 in one sitting with a hot cuppa tea!
