Asda was selling these for the special offer price of £1 the other month, so I bought a box - in the name of research and review writing you understand? I used to like these and would eat them often, but since I hadn't bought these for a while would they still be as nice? A box of 8 normally costs about £1.60 so a nice little saving to be had with the offer.

Made by Mr Kipling, who does seem to make exceddingly good cakes. I love the Vienesse Whirls as well.

So what are these? They are square-ish Sponge Cakes with some Buttercream type stuff on the top and this is all covered by a fondant covering. They are quite sickly but are a good mixture of fresh tasting moist sponge, sweet cream filling and the nice icing taste which is very sweet in my view. The colourings in the box are Brown, Pink and Yellow and I like the Brown ones the best as they have that slight hint of Chocolate to them. I also think the sponge has a Vanilla hint to it, and the whole thing is enough for me only to eat one of. I guess I could eat 2, but then I wouldn't want to eat any after that for a while.

Don't get me wrong, these are nice, but I don't think they are that special. Especially for the normal price. They have the whole package as far as Cakes are concerned such as sponge, icing and cream but there is nicer ones in the range.

Buy these, but when they are on offer - they taste better that way!

Try the supermarket versions - I noticed a big difference aside from M&S version which is remarkably similar.

If they made a box of just yellow ones, I'd eat them for breakfast, lunch and tea!
