Advantages: Simply delicious
Disadvantages: Pricey
I can't believe I have just worked ny way through a whole box of these in the past hour. Talk about sugar rush!
If you haven't encountered these, they are 3 cm sides, small cube shaped sponges with a dimple of fondant on the top. This is all tipped off with a coating of sugar icing, either chocolate, lemon or strawberry. Now these are rather small, so this brings about the question are they worth the money, after all it is £1.60 for a box and you get eight in a box - that works out at 20 pence a cake. OK so if you go into a bakers and buy a single cake it will cost you about £1, however it will be far more substantial than one of these tiny cube.
I reckon a more reasonable price for these would be about 60 to 70 pence a box.
Let us look at it from another perspective: the "you get what you pay for" point of view.
In a nutshell, these are rather delicious. You can actually get a little bit oversugared after one or two. I still have to hark back to the size though. It is so easy to pop a whole one of these in your mouth and it is gone. You don't feel as if you have enjoyed a cake with your cup of tea, you really do need to keep stuffing them in.
I definitely know which ones are my favourite and that is the pink strawberry ones. I am undecided on whether I like the lemon over the chocolate or vice versa. These definitely are delicious, however I would only have these as a real treat when I am need a really quick but tasty sugar injection.
Summary: A pricey treat - would have been 5 stars had the price been decent
