Battenberg cakes have been around for a while and when they get made by yet another company you wonder if they will be as nice, but when its Mr Kipling you know its going to be a quality cake! Battenberg's are moist sponge cakes with a chequered pattern of pink and yellow colour cake divided by lovely rich apricot jam and surrounded with a layer of almond marzipan! Well from that alone they sound great! Mr Kipling took the Battenberg from the norm and made it mini. You can buy them from any supermarket and you get 6 in a box. The cakes are paired up in smaller lunch box size trays so you don't have to worry about them going stale. The packaging with ... Read the complete review

Mr Kipling Mini Battenbergs Description: Cakes / Moist sponge cake filled with rich apricot jam, all wrapped up in a soft almond flavour paste. I bought a pack of 5 of these mini batenburg cakes for just £1 on offer at my local supermarket. Expect to pay around £1.30 normally though. You are bound to have seen batenburg cakes before but just in case you haven't, they are made up of pink and yellow sponge cake, which is stuck together with apricot jam and then all wrapped up in marzipan - delicious! I love batenburg cakes and these are quite possibly my favourite ones. They are quite sweet so I usually find that 1 is ... Read the complete review

I dropped into my mothers at the weekend and purposely stated I wasn't really hungry to avoid her shoving a huge piece of cake under my nose (saying no to her just doesn't work these days). She emerged from the kitchen with a packet of Mr Kipling Mini Battenbergs to accompany my cup of tea. I have had Battenberg cake on many occasions and absolutely love it but had never tried the mini versions from Mr Kipling, but assumed that these would be exactly the same...... ***Packaging*** The Mr Kipling Mini Battenbergs comes in a long rectangular box. The outer packaging is bright pink and the colour is very eye catching. There is also an image ... Read the complete review

Battenbergs are a great cake, so when the UK's top cake maker, Mr Kipling rolls them out, they must be good. This is true to a certain extent, as they are fresh, have a great taste and look really nice, but they are quite expensive compared to other alternative brands, contains lots of calories and fat and also aren't as nice as the original cake. The packaging is very bright, and easy to recognise on the shelves. The picture looks delicious and your mouth will start to water. It is very easy to read, with clear big text. It is easy to open and the product is always fresh but they will go soft very quickly so you need another container as they aren't ... Read the complete review

I have loved 'normal' sized Battenberg for many years now. The soft, sweet sponge surrounded by slightly tart, sugary, almondy marzipan creates a wonderful cake that goes fantastically well with a cup of tea and leaves me satisfied and happy. When I saw a packet of 5 'Mini Battenbergs' by Mr Kipling in the supermarket, I thought I would try them in the hope that they would taste the same and give the same feeling as their larger counterpart. This wasn't quite the case. Each of the mini Battenbergs really does look like a tiny cuboid Battenberg cake, wrapped in almond paste and filled with a pink and white chequerboard style sponge cake. They are ... Read the complete review
