keeperofthematri Mr Kipling Mince Pies: ... mince pies. When I was little Grandma used to make her own Christmas pastry. Mince pies, jam tarts, lemon curd, ground rice, bakewell tart, apple pie, bramble pie......there was enough pastry in our house at Christmas to feed an army. Now, aged 97 and with poor eyesight Grandma can t bake anymore so, as my pastry making skills are not the best, I tend to buy stuff from the shops instead and, as Morrisons had thes...

janharper Mr Kipling Mince Pies
... am something of a mince pie fan, so when I saw Mr Kipling deep filled mince pies on offer at our local shop, I decided to treat myself. I paid £1.09 for a box of six and went home feeling very pleased with myself. Once home I made myself a cuppa and settled down to each some (I say eat some because I had no intention of just eating one, or two). The pies are kind of pale in colour with Christmas Tree shaped pastry cut out on top and no sugar, or icing sugar dusted over and each one is in an individual foil dish. Half way through the third one I examined the contents of the pie a bit more closely. Yes, the pies are deep but the mincemeat only comes less than half ...

wilco121 Mr Kipling Mince Pies
... So, as I sit here at my PC, the not so festive Mykonos by the Fleet Foxes rings out, creating the setting for my first mince pie of 2009 (I think. did I break the rule in January 2009 by eating a left over? I can t remember but there is a sub-rule; leave no mince pie down. It is possible I might have blasphemed and broken December only .) I have decided to go with the cake-meister himself; Mr Kipling. For he does make exceedingly good cakes (had to get that in there somewhere). I chose him as one of the only varieties that wasn t supermarket owned brand. I have been particularly impressed by his deep filled apple & blackcurrant pies. This should be a solid bas...

CheekyCharlie08 Mr Kipling Viennese Chocolate Whirls (Limited Edition)
... ve never been mad keen on the Viennese Whirls that Mr Kipling makes because I think they re mega dry and the cream in them is too sweet. Mr Kipling has brought out a limited edition one for Xmas though and they re pure chocolate so I thought I might like these a bit better. I still think they re mega boring though and wasn t mad keen on the taste or texture of the cakes. They re only small but are so sweet that even eating one little cake made me feel a bit sick and there was no way I could have eaten 2 like I usually do with Mr Kipling cakes. The pastry is quite buttery and has got a strong cocoa flavour, usually I d love that but the taste is quite powdery and not...
