Advantages: Just wow!
Disadvantages: May as well just paste in on my thighs and cut out the middle man!
Have you ever tasted something and realised that actually life will never be the same again. This is how I feel sat here. I know! its half past nine in the morning, and I'm eating dessert, its called being a gutsy moo! I bought these in a 2 pack from Asda this week for £1. This is a special offer price and they will normally be about £1.50 if my memory serves me right. Ok, so they are a bit pricey, but I don't care now, I'm hooked! You can also buy them in all the other supermarkets and the CO-OP (so I can go and buy them right up until 11pm! lol!)
There are three layers to the product, and two seperate parts to the packaging; a large pot containing the greek style yoghurt and compote and a lid holding the topping. The two parts fit together one on top of the other; they are clear plastic, a tall yoghurt pot with the fruit compote at the bottom quarter, then a half a pot of yoghurt, the rest is space to put your topping. The topping is foil wrapped in the lid as is the bottom part. This is then held together in a two pack with cardboard outer. This has pictures of the three layers and the usual muller logos.
+ The Topping +
I have no idea what this actually is, the packaging says 'crunchy dessert topping' and the ingredients don't split the three parts up so I'm none the wiser there. It tastes like digestive biscuits and dried blackcurrants in little balls like rice crispies almost. Its lovely and crunchy and sweet and the blackcurrant pieces are tangy and sharp. I poured these bits onto the yoghurt and they didn't go too soft. There isn't really enough topping to go around, a few more bits would have been nice, its nice to have a bit of crunch in each spoonful.
+ The Yoghurt +
This tastes like muller corner yoghurt, very nice and fresh. A bit tangy maybe but not very sweet. This is a lovely contrast to the other 2 layers. It is pure white so looks very nice next to the dark purple compote. There is just the right amount for me.
+ The Fruit Compote +
This is where I almost faint! You should taste this compote! YUM! It is quite runny, much more runny than jam, which blackcurrants in it. You can even feel the little pips in it. It also contains apple juice. It is tangy, sharp and very strong. (just how I like my men!) The smell is divine too! It is 60 / 40 sauce / whole blackcurrants. Even though there is only a little bit of this in the bottom it is enough as it is so strong. I like to mix it all up so I get a pink mess! Yummy!
There are two other varieties to try; Strawberry Shortcake and Apricot Tart. I will make it my mission in life to try these for you all and report back..... if I really have to!
These have quite a reasonable shelf life mine were in date for another month! They lasted an hour in my fridge! Funnily enough one pot is enough, normally I'd be tempted to eat both if they were there. I have been very good though and resisted and I think two would be a bit sickly.
Each pot is 145g and contains 225 calories and 5.9g of fat.
+ Warnings +
May contain traces of nut or soya.
Contains Milk, Wheat and Gluten.
Suitable for vegetarians.
JUST WOW! I do apologise if this review has made you all put on weight just reading it, but feel sorry for me. I have to do it all over again with the other two flavours! ;0)
Summary: A fruity, yoghurty, biscuity creation
