Advantages: Delicious combination of yoghurt and cereal

Disadvantages: Quite expensive compared with other yoghurts

We eat a phenomenal amount of yoghurt in our house - for desserts, for puddings, for snacks......we generally go for the value versions from the supermarkets, simply because if we went for more expensive ones, then we would spend an absolute fortune as we go though so many of them! I have, in the past tried making my own - with mixed success, but generally because it is so cheap to buy value, that is what I do!

However, yesterday I bought a load of Muller Corner Healthy Balance yoghurts because they were close to their sell by date, and were just 10p for 2! At 5p for each yoghurt, I decided to swipe what I could from the shelves!

I am sure you are all aware of the Muller Corner concept - a tub of plain yoghurt, with a side portion of fruit, sweets or granola which you then mix in at your leisure. Some people just tip the whole lot in and mix it together, some prefer to keep them separate, and take a bit of one on a spoon, and add it to a bit of another before making it to their mouth.

The yoghurt I bought was bio yoghurt with tropical granola. It screamed "Low Fat" and "Healthy Balance" on the packaging.

The yoghurt was thick and creamy, and had a wonderful sharpness about it. It looks natural yet has a little more flavour about it than plain natural yoghurt. I could definitely taste the tang of lemon juice, but there must be something else to give it a little flavour - sadly, the list of ingredients simply says "natural flavourings" so it gives nothing away!

The granola was delicious - crunchy toasted oats and rice, with dried tropical fruit. The fruit consisted of dried banana, papaya and pineapple pieces, and gave a fantastically sweet chewy element to the mix.

I found that the flavours and the different textures worked very very well together - the smoothness of the yoghurt, the crunch of the granola and the chewiness of the fruit. The combination of the tangy yoghurt and the sweet granola also worked incredibly well for me, and I could happily eat one of these every day.

Muller say that these are suitable for breakfast or as a healthy snack at any time of the day, and I would certainly agree. As someone who often eats breakfast at work because I don't have time in the morning, this would be an excellent addition to my work fridge.

My only gripe really is the price - not the 10p for 2 that I paid, obviously, but these were reduced from £1.19 originally - 60p per yoghurt is quite a lot really, and I would be looking out for these on offer. Most supermarkets frequently have multi-buy offers on Muller yoghurts, so it is worth keeping your eye out and stocking up at an appropriate time.

As for "healthy balance", well most food is healthy if eaten as part of a balanced diet - this is just dragging you in to the whole "health kick" thing.

100g has 116 calories and 1.4 grams of saturated fat. When you think that there are 135 grams per yoghurt, you will see that you are actually consuming a reasonable number of cals here - about as much as a packet of Walkers Crisps.........see what I mean about healthy balance??

Anyway, I will be buying these again - especially if they are reduced to 10p again!

Summary: I would be happy to eat these all day!

I was enjoying these when Waitrose had them on offer at 59p for 2, but I haven't bought any at the normal price.
