Advantages: Delicious banana yogurt which is creamy and smooth, crunchy and flavoursome chocolate cornflakes
Disadvantages: Very high in sugars, not as versatile as 'normal' fruit yogurts
I'm not overly fond of yogurts which incorporate chocolate into them in any way, although I will always make an exception for this Müller Choco Banana Flakes Crunch Corner which in my opinion is absolutely delicious.
Like the Müller Fruit Corners, the pot is split into two triangles with the yogurt itself in the larger section and the chocolate covered cornflakes in the smaller one. I find there is the perfect ratio of yogurt to flakes in this Corner and as I tend to mix mine together it means I always get a couple of crispy flakes in each spoon of yogurt.
The banana yogurt is absolutely delicious, it doesn't have that slightly sour note that many banana yogurts get and is wonderfully smooth with a sweetness that makes it seem more of a dessert than a yogurt. In actual fact it puts me in mind of the Müller Light Banana Custard yogurt as this has a definite custard taste and feel, all the more so because it's such a smooth and creamy yogurt.
On their own I find the chocolate flavoured cornflakes a little harsh in flavour, a little like when you steal a bit of cocoa powder and realise it's not as sweet as you thought it was going to be. Well, the opposite is true here and although the cornflakes look perfect they do have an intense sweetness that completely overpowers even the chocolate.
When mixed with the banana yogurt though the flakes lose much of this sugariness and their flavour settles down to one of good quality chocolate (which it probably isn't, I'm not a fool!) through which you can almost taste the actual cornflakes. The texture is fantastic when you mix them; the creaminess of the yogurt is such a wonderful contrast to the crunch of the flakes, and the flakes don't lose any of their crispness even when they have been absorbing the lovely banana flavour. The flavours of the banana and chocolate go very well together, complimenting one another beautifully with their very different flavours.
Honestly I'd consider this more of a dessert or pudding than a yogurt. When I have yogurt in my fridge, which isn't all the time as I do find them rather boring, I like to be able to pick one up for my breakfast or have one as part of my lunch. However, these sweet ones are just too heavy to contemplate unless I really fancy something chocolatey or sweet - although this is by no means a failing and is true of any other sweet yogurt.
The Corner is 150g and has 215 calories and 4.8g of saturated fat, which on the face of it doesn't look too bad but let me advise you that this sweetness comes from over 25g of sugars which is terrible news! It is a very substantial treat though and the sweetness of the yogurt makes it seem so much more special than a 'normal' flavour, the addition of the chocolate cornflakes is what really makes it for me though and considering the speed with which my three granddaughters' demolished these the other night I'd say they agree!
Summary: More of a dessert than a yogurt, but absolutely delicious whichever way you look at it.
