Having just recovered from a sicky bug, I decided I needed to send Luke up the shop to get me something plain, and something that could be either hot or cold. I have always liked Muller rice as they taste delicious as a snack or a desert

History on Muller
Ludwig Müller first established a village dairy back in 1896, but didn't realise how popular it would become in the late 1900's. In 1970, Theo Müller took control of the family buisness and changed recipes, made some new one's and increased publicity and marketing support. Muller company now earn 1.3billion a year thanks to their success. In 1987, muller corner and crunch corners were launched, and by the 1990's, muller rice was launched, so my muller rice has been produced for as long as I've been alive which is fantastic, 16 long years of improved recipes and nutrition. It's no wonder why so many people buy, trust and love muller products.
Look

On opening the lid, I see a bubbly, creamy rice pudding type of food with a slight pale green apple sauce swirled into different parts of the container. For200g of this lovely looking deliciousness, it looks very tempting to eat it one go, but I like to enjoy my food by making it last longer and using a teaspoon to eat it

Taste and texture

Taking a mouthful of the rice alone, I can feel the rice on my tongue as it is lumpy but in a nice textured way, the rice is soft and smooth, and if you had a sore throat, toothache, or had your braces tightened, this would be perfect as it would just be able to slip down your throat nicely, giving you a healthy but good to your pain nutrition. The rice doesn't require any chewing, but if like me you like feeling your food in your mouth for a bit longer you can chew it if you feel like it. The rice tastes plain and bland on its own, and I couldn't buy just a pot of this just to have the rice on its own. Next, I take a bit of the apple and apple sauce on its own and it tastes sweet and has a brilliant flavour, the apple is soft in my mouth and also doesn't require any chewing, but once again I prefer it in my mouth so I chew it slightly. Together, the rice and apple are fantastic together, and taste delicious, but I wouldn't recommend eating this 3 times a day, otherwise it will get boring and also it's not a fantastic source of all your nutritional requirements.

You can heat up this rice in the microwave on full power for 40 seconds (800W) making sure all the foil is off the top of the pot before heating in the microwave, this makes a perfect dessert for after dinner, or eat it cold which is perfect as a midday snack or even better when it's been in the fridge for a few hours and during a hot summer day it tastes fantastic.

Nutrition values

This is the best part, because for a snack it fills you up for quite a while, and the nutrition values in this pot of goodness are brilliant. It contains:
23% of recommended daily allowance of calcium
224 calories per 200g pot - less calories than tucking into that chocolate bar
Less than 3% Recommended daily allowance of fat
And for 44p, the same price as a dairy milk snack bar, this is not only healthier but tastier as well, and you don't feel guilty for eating it afterwards either.

Overall

Overall, this is a delicious pudding or snack to have; you have a choice of whether to eat it hot or cold to suit your taste buds, perfect for summer when it's hot to eat it cold or a cold winter's day to eat it hot. I wouldn't recommend eating it day in day out, otherwise your taste buds will become bored as the rice will become dull; however there are many different flavours in this range, so you could try all of them and the strawberry one is also delicious. This pot of goodness is cheap and Tesco have long term offer's of 5 for £2 or buy 3 get 3 free so it's brilliant to take advantage of these offers as the use by dates aren't usually for three or four weeks after buying these. A four and a half out of 5 because you couldn't eat these everyday unfortunately.
