Advantages: Good flavour, chocolate, nostalgic, slightly different.

Disadvantages: None for me

Aero chocolate has been around for many years. These days it has quite a few different flavours and can be bought as:-

A large bar.
A small bar.
A multi pack.
A yogurt dessert.
A chocolate milk drink.
Aero Ice Cream.
And probably more.

My favourite flavour is mint, closely followed by orange.

Shopping today at my local netto, a strategically placed large mint Aero found its way into my shopping basket. I do wish they would not have designer long queues at some supermarkets with all the chocolate just begging to be bought but there you go. Their consumer techniques worked.

A 125g of Mint Aero retailed at 99p which is not bad. Of course the size is meant for sharing but we won't dwell on that. As soon as the bubble covered green wrapper was open I could smell the chocolate with a hint of mint. Breaking a chunk of Aero off the smell of mint intensified. In fact it was very strong.

Aero, for the uninitiated is a light bubble filled chocolate bar. In the flavoured varieties, such as my mint bar, the inner is bubbly, flavoured chocolate and this is covered with milk chocolate on the outside.

The chocolate is not especially memorable or distinctive like Galaxy or Cadburys, but it is nice. Sometimes it does taste a little fatty but today's bar did not. Despite the fact that the chocolate taste light and the advertising suggests that Aero is a light chocolate the calorific value is the same as Cadbury's, for example. It is worth also pointing out that the list of ingredients is not especially healthy but then again that is not why I bought it.

I bought it because I do like Aero as an occasional treat, and I shall try and tell you why.

It is good value, although pricey weight for weight in comparison to chocolate such as Cadburys.
It has that nostalgia feel to me and brings back childhood memories.
As it is light, a 125g bar is as large as a 200g bar of other chocolate would be.
The mint flavour stops the chocolate from being heavy, rich or sickly.
The mint flavour is strong enough to be tasty.
A large bar is great for sharing at somewhere like the cinema.

Aero is a Nestle product these days but I think it used to be part of the Rowntree of York group.

All in all a good traditional chocolate treat.

Thanks for reading
