I could never be described as the world's biggest fan of ice cream, or mint-flavoured confectionary items, so it was with more than a bit of hesitation that I selected one of the "Nestle After Eight" ice cream cones from my freezer at the weekend, when I was looking for something to satisfy those ever-present cravings from my (evil) sweet tooth! The one exception to my rule about minty-flavoured chocolate and sweets, is the "Nestle After Eight" mints. I usually only have the opportunity to eat these at Christmas time, and always enjoy them when I do. I had purchased these cones as a treat for my other half last week. In ... This past week I just found an amazing dessert/snack treat that I just had to share with everyone so if you love chocolate and mint and ice cream then read on. According to various articles I have read, "Rich in British heritage, After Eight is known as England's finest mint." After Eight's now produce an ice cream cone with After Eight mint chocolate included. I found a pack of 6 ice cream cones for £2 in Sainsburys which I though was an absolute bargain as generally one ice cream cone from a van or a speciality shop costs £2 or more. Made by Nestlé, the original After Eight chocolates were mint-flavoured thins designed and ... Read the complete review

I always enjoyed After Eight chocolates at Christmas time when I was a kid. I can't say they were my favourite chocolate. The centre tends to be a bit too runny for my taste, but the fact they are so thin and moorish, really appealed. I like mint and I love mint choc chip ice-cream. I also still buy After Eights at Christmas (well, it would be rude not to!) but bizarrely, I never even considered After Eight ice-cream. I only tried it the other day when round at a friend's and I will definitely be having it again... soon!! The cones are a similar size to a cornetto. They are quite filling (although I could probably eat two if I was forced!) and leave a ... Read the complete review

Now, when you think of After Eights, you think of dinner parties and Christmas because these are probably when you're most likely to see them. Now, Nestle have decided to produce an ice-cream cone version of the chocolate. When I first saw them, I wasn't surprised that this had happened because many chocolate bar now have ice-cream versions, although some don't work well as others. However, I am always keen to see what they are like, more so as I have enjoyed mint choc-chip flavoured ice cream before. The ice-cream cone was what I expected from it. The mint flavoured ice cream, which was very minty and tasty, mixed with the After chocolate bits were ... Read the complete review

I have always liked after eights, the chocolate is always sweet and the fondant icing is smooth and minty. How do these compare? These ice cream cones are a delicious indulgent treat. As a plus they are only 192 calories, so can be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet, as long as you don't eat too many! When you open the wrapper you notice that there are some dark chocolate chunks on the top, which are lovely and accompany the ice cream well. The ice cream itself is creamy without being sickly, and is just the thing to cool yourself down on a summers day. The cone is crunchy and not at all soggy, which is a big let down for some of these ice cream ... Read the complete review
