Advantages: A good variety of chocolates and sweets, generous amount in the box.

Disadvantages: More suited to children, lots of E numbers.

It seems nowadays more and more people prefer the mixed boxes of chocolates that contain mini versions of old favourites, a relative newcomer on the scene is *Nestle All Stars*, a mixture of all the old and new Nestle favourites we all love.

First impression of this product leaves you wondering exactly if it is aimed at adults or children, as there seems to be a mixture of products to appeal to both.

THE BOX
¤~¤~¤~¤~¤

The packaging is very different to your average box of chocolates and very easy to spot, designed as an upright carton, almost like a popcorn box once the lid is removed.

The striking yellow and gold design contains pictures of all the inside products in star shapes dotted all over the box, so you can see at a glance exactly what you are getting.

CONTENTS
¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~

Now the best part lets see what’s in the box!

Each one is individually wrapped in it’s own distinctive packaging, and would be ideal for adding to snack boxes or even party bags if you manage not to eat them all.

There are 7 variety of sweet inside and these are the following:

FRUIT PASTILLES
¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤

A long standing favourite, each little packet contains 4 full sized pastilles, a combination of lemon, strawberry, blackcurrant, lime and orange, each sweet is coated in sugar and contains a chewy fruit centre, not to hard but also not to soft, very refreshing.

MINI SMARTIES
¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~

Yes another oldie in the sweetie stakes the good old Smartie, except now they also come in miniature, each sachet which is slightly larger than say a sachet of coffee contains around 25 mini Smarties.

You get a mix or red, orange, brown, blue, yellow, purple, pink and green.

The Smarties are identical in taste to their big brothers, however the one thing that worries me with the mini ones is that they are almost identical
to the size of pills also, which could prove quite a worry with young children.

The other factor is Smarties and Pastilles contain lots of E numbers, so are not suitable for any children with hyperactive problems.
But for us adults they are perfect!.

WONKALATE
¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤

A newbie here, a little pink and purple bar, not everyone particularly adults will be familiar with the Wonka bar, the bar is based on the actual film “ Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory”, or “ Charlie and the chocolate factory” as some may remember it by.
The actual chocolate inside is purple with little green fizzy bits incorporated into it, which are “Nerds”.

If you remember the film, the wallpaper tasted of Snozzberry, as do the fizzy Nerds, this along with the raspberry chocolate is a very unusual looking bar but taste wise it is very pleasant, one aimed more at the children I felt however!

MILKYBAR CHOO
¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤

The Choo comes in Milky Bar packaging, complete with the bespectacled Milky Bar Kid, a mini finger of rich vanilla white fudge smothered in Milky Bar chocolate, very rich indeed and creamy, however the fudge does not really have any taste at all that stands out, but very enjoyable non the less.

MILKYBAR
¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~

The good old original, nothing fancy here, a mini bar containing 3 chunks of lovely Milky Bar chocolate, this is definitely one for the grown ups to snaffle before the children see it.

FRUIT PASTILLE BODY PARTS
¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~¤

Again the original fruit pastille but with an added kiddie appeal, yes these are shaped as body parts, they come in the very same flavours but you may get a leg, nose, hand, lips etc, the idea is that you piece them together to make a body, however at only 3 per mini pack this could be rather tricky!

ROLO
¤~¤~¤~

Now everyone knows and
loves Rolo’s, a full sized individually wrapped Rolo containing that yummy gooey caramel centre encased in milk chocolate, plenty of these and as they are all single you could always pretend they are all your last Rolo!!!

VERDICT
¤~¤~¤~¤~¤~

It seems the idea behind All Stars is to give them appeal to all ages with the something for everyone factor.
The idea seems to work well with the combination of chocolates and sweets and you can palm any you don’t like off on the kids!

There are plenty in each box and the mini bars and packets are good sizes too, more than one mouthful in each in this one.

All Stars are made by Nestle and cost approximately Ł2.99 per box of 293g,which is pretty average compared to similar other brands.

I must admit I only bought the one box for reasons of curiosity, I did enjoy most of them but I still feel that children would like this selection more than most adults.

I may buy another but can’t see them becoming a firm favourite, I would rather have Celebrations or similar if I had the choice….
