Nestle Black Magic ... dramatisations of romantic rendezvous featuring Black Magic, but it was the newspaper and magazine adverts which really launched the romantic theme. Black Magic advertising showed women writing letters to friends about their romantic encounters over a box of Black Magic. In 1933, a pound box of Black Magic cost just two shillings and ten pence. Prior to the launch, Rowntree had really done their homework.

 ... creamy dark chocolate'. This is the only plain chocolate with no special flavouring, and it is very nice. The chocolate used in this one is that same as the one used as a base for all the other flavours. It is high quality and not too bitter, but not too milky either. I am a little picky about chocolate, and I often find that when I am given a box with a selection in, such as Roses, Quality Street, Celebrations or Milk Tray, I often only end up eating around half of them. I don't like hard caramel centres, and I don't like fruit flavoured or coconut chocolates, so it's unusual for me to find a box of chocolates where I like every one and can polish off the whole lot. However, this very nearly happened when I was given a box of Nestle Black Magic chocolates for Christmas.
