Advantages: Delicious taste, moreish, great with or without milk.
Disadvantages: Expensive and not available in many stores near where I love.
Curiously Cinnamon used to be known under the name of 'Cinnamon Grahams' and the cereal has been around since 1984. The cereal has had a few slogans over the years including 'The taste you can see' and 'Crave those crazy squares'.
The cereal is provided in a cardboard box which is orange with a big blurb about the product and the usual nutritional information, ingredients etc. While I'm sure the box is designed to be eye catching (like most packaging) it's really not and unless I look hard it's easy to miss and when I searched for a few months (when the name changed last year) I just couldn't find these anywhere even though my local Tesco does sell them.
The pieces of cereal are toasted squares of wheat & rice with sugar and cinnamon. The individual squares have a little swirl on them (designed to look like a swirl of cinnamon no doubt) and these squares do have a delicious crunch to them with a nice, strong cinnamon flavour to them. The cinnamon flavour transfers to any milk poured over the squares and this gives delicious cinnamon milk when you've eaten all your cereal. I love this part almost as much as the cereal itself and I don't usually like milk!
The main downside is the price, currently £2.07 for a 375g box from Tesco. I do think this is very expensive for cereal so I tend to see this particular one as a treat to have now and again rather than my daily bowl of cereal.
The squares are incredibly moreish and when I have these in the house I often find myself enjoying these dry as a snack or just with milk for my lunch or dinner. The cinnamon really is my favourite part of these and unfortunately (for me!) there is nothing cheaper available that rivals these.
One serving (30g) with 125ml of semi-skimmed milk contains 184 calories, 5.0g of fat and 15.7g of sugars. It also contains 19% of your RDA of wholegrain which is great as I always try and boost my wholegrain intake wherever possible.
I am going to rate this cereal 4/5 as the price is the only downside to me and I would like to buy this more often but I just can't justify £2 for such a small amount of cereal that can last me under a week!
Summary: A delicious cereal that's incredibly moreish and gives me tasty milk.
